Werewolf by Night
No, but thanks for reminding me that it's probably something I should be sure to do! Sweet looking specimen here... http://www.prsguitars.com/showcase/current/guitars/lg_513.jpg Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do? ~ Caevan James-Michael Miller-O'Shite ~ _ ___ _ Leprechaun, Esquire _ ___ _
Gabriel E.
Ooooh! Very nice. Not sure I'd know what to do with all those switch options. It has a longer scale length than most PRSi. Sylver
And for only NINE GRAND! What a bargin. I really don't know what to put here.
Werewolf by Night
I imagine that they'd be much more reasonably priced without the all Brazilian Rosewood neck (I think it's a one-piece affair). Finding a suitable, large enough, high-grade piece of Brazilian Rosewood these days has gotta be harder than procuring reliquary body-parts of Saints! I'd still like to try one out sometime... Joe Cole
Is it just me but do some PRS guitars look like they were decorated by Liberace? There is no substitute.
FormerOceanwaySlave
For $9,000, I am not impressed at all by the figuring in the body. Honestly though, for more than $3,000 why would anyone buy a mass-produced instrument aside from insecurity? There are more than a few great luthiers out there who could produce an absolutely amazing instrument for that kind of money. I'm sure it plays well, but for that kind of money you can do so amazing much better. Cheers, Alan Tomlinson
Joe Cole
Why do we equate great playing guitars with chromed up Caddy's? Haven't we been pimped to death yet? There is no substitute.

Guitarzan
the mass produced point is in reference that PRS guitars are factory made, you can get a hand made Macinturff or MJ Mirage for less than that 9000 dollar PRS. thats my biggest beef with certain makers, if you mass produce it why does it cost more than most of the hand made guitars offered by some american luthiers? http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
GTRBass
513's for $9,000??? So that's how Paul plans to pay off the cost of the Gibson lawsuit.
Gabriel E.
Really, NO solidbody guitar is worth more than $3K. PRS makes great guitars and they're certainly worth a couple of grand but nine grand? There are some doctors over on the PRS forum who'll buy them for sure. PBBPaul
Anybody see a street price yet? $9K is the list price. I'd be curious to see how much they're being discounted. While I certainly can't justify that much for a guitar, the price puts them in line with top-end Gibsons, Rickenbackers, Gretsch's and even G&L's. michael saulnier
Price isn't always a function of utility, or simply a sum of parts and labor. There's a whole "marketing" factor in pricing. Is a Rolex "worth" $10,000 to $25,000? As a sum of the parts and labor? OR as a "status symbol" How about a $100,000 Mercedes? How about a $20k diamond? Or a $20 million piece of art? Clearly part of PRS's strategy has been to make some of their guitars for a very elite class... perhaps sometimes even "non-players" who look at the collectable aspect and the "art" as much as its function as a working guitarists tool. Take their "Dragon" line. As far as I know, it was very high priced, but I believe sold in enough volume to justify its creation. PRS seems to use these models as "brand builders" that help to bring more value and recognition to their "regular" guitars. Somewhat like high-end clothing designers have their "ready to wear" version of a $7,000 designer original dress for $200... This particular guitar has a unique new pickup system that, if I remember correctly, offers a tremendous amount of flexibility. Hopefully, this high priced model will be the "designer" version, and a model for the "masses" will be forthcoming. But if not... oh, well. I got MY PRS McCarty used for $1,100 about three years ago. Love it! Don't really need another for now! guitplayer I'm still "guitplayer"!
