dougsthang
I realize this is a guitar forum but I'm first a guitar player and now a piano player, well let's say piano stylist. I took piano in college and I knew all the major & minor chords before I got this. I've had it now about a week and I'm completely addicted to this. Having learned music theory and practiced it on guitar, it all makes compete sense now that I own a keyboard. It's so easy to make a minor 7 flat 5 on the keyboards. It's visually easy to see. I can pick up most pieces now rather quickly. Have learned a bunch of Beatle tunes, some Thelonious Monk, some Stevie Wonder and of course am writing on it. Oh and my 16 year old daughter made sure I learned "Clocks" by Coldplay. It didn't take much proding because that's a well written tune This was the real reason I got one was to write music on it. I found myself writing one way on guitar because I know the guitar, I'm still not totally comfortable with piano which is the best place to be for songwriting. I bought a Cascio PX300 keyboard. It has 88 weighted keys with built in speakers and a variety of the standard piano presets (piano, electric piano, organ, clavinet, strings....)plus it has MIDI in out and thru so I can drive other devices. Now I can lay down piano tracks into my GNX4 to go along with the great guitar sounds and bass sounds and drums of the GNX4....Caevan are you listening? Going back at it right now, I'm going to learn "Ricky don't lose that number" overheard street personality on Venice Beach "Man, that Bullshit is Bulllshhittt...." dougsthang
I guess it's giving me that feeling inside just like when I first picked up guitar. I started playing guitar in 1975 at the age of 14 and haven't stopped...well I've stopped a few times to hit the restroom It's also helping me practice my reading chops as well. I got so used to just using tab for guitar when I wanted to learn a song. overheard street personality on Venice Beach "Man, that Bullshit is Bulllshhittt...."
