The most expensive CD I ever bought

Billster

Recommended Posts

Came with a car attached. :D

So we bought a brand new used car on Tuesday. Need to go back to the dealer in a few days to get the permanent registration, so we want to check out the features, and make sure everything works right in case anything needs to be remedied when we go back.

I say to the Mrs. this morning, "take a CD and make sure the player works right." Later this morning, she calls me on the phone and says, "hey, there was already a disc in the player - who's Alan Jackson?"

I don't know what album it is, but to all y'all country music fans, what should I hope for?

And with my Emmylou Harris poll, I guess this makes it Official Country Music Day. :)

At least you got a good one....

Alan probably has about as many CMA awards as George Strait

I probably wouldn't know him if I didn't watch the car races ;) Doesn't he have a Ford commercial? I didn't buy a Ford - his CD is in the WRONG CAR!

I like Alan Jackson, and a lot of today's current shitkickin' music. Especially the stuff that's got some humor thrown in, which Jackson does quite frequently.

Also, some damn fine pickers out there. I need to become more country-savvy in my playing. A lot of good licks.

Forget the country music nonsense - what car did you buy? Those Bentley's are really sweet....

A 2000 Acura TL. We decided it had a great reliability reputation, best remaining warranty (in case that reliability thing is a myth), and good size and features. Primarily for the wife, after what happened to the last car (head-on collision) I feel good sending her into the freeway battlezone with many, many airbags on board.

O.K., seriously now, when I first read that, I mistakenly thought you meant this guy, Paul Jackson, Jr.-

Depends on the shape the four-year-old Porsche is in, and/or how much money is in Alan Jackson's Certificate of Deposit... ! ;):D

-I knew you'd love that Paul Jackson, Jr. sig-model Gibson!:cool:

Alan Jackson is, perhaps, the greatest country artist of the past 20 years.

He's written many of the best country songs of the past 20 years. Performed most of them, too.

Recorded a better catalog, IMO, than Reba or anyone in the genre in the same period.

Has a wonderful, clear voice.

He crosses the lines of traditional and modern country with seeming ease.

So which album did you find, Billster? What songs are on it? I'm used to listening to several of the greatest hits albums.

It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman

And one of the best fiddle/mandolin players around, Stuart Duncan. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, too.

And his live band, the Strayhorns, are no slouches either! :thu:

Brent Mason does a lot of people's albums. He was on Toby Keith's Dream Walkin', which is probably my favorite country album.

I was never so much into Alan Jackson, but now that I know he uses the same guitarist, I might have to check him out sometime.

Shut up and play.

A buddy of mine has a copy of Brent's (apparently very hard to find) solo CD, and OMG! it has some incredible picking on it. :thu::thu:

I would. Hands down. THE best of the past 20 years. Who's better?

Alan Jackson is the real deal. Great writer, great country voice, the best musicians in country music, no strutting around like the pretty boys of modern country and no bullshit like whoever said TOBY KEITH? Puke. I am literally throwing up. Oh... my... gawd. (Sorry, JMO)

Alan Jackson never records a bad song. They are all fantastic cuts. Amazing. And... he writes. Well.
