Tedster
I like the idea. Dang. Problem is, I'm usually looking for other players, like keyboard players. And they're never here in KC. C'est la vie... "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
Billster
I'm just trying to give a home to those folks who come here to find a guitar player and end up slammed for spamming. Looking for players is not spam. Trouble is some of the ads read like bad spam: ISO GUITAR PLAYER TO ROCK THE WORLD!!!!!! And if anyone in Metro Boston wants to jam, send a PM to me. BiC
Great idea, Bill! Unless you keep this thread constantly bumped to the first page, we'll continue to have those annoying posts. ricknbokkerv2.0
Okay... I'll go first. :-) We are currently a four piece act, playing danceable rock and roll covers from the 60's to now. We have keys/left hand bass, bass/ guitar, drums, and a lead vocalist, though we all sing. Collectively, we have over 110 years of gigging and recording experience. We're doing our damndest to make this a full time gig, playing out at least 6 times a month. We're shooting for bigger rooms and better pay than all the other local acts, and after the success of our recent first gig, it's looking like we can pretty much play anywhere we want. Due to the venues we want to stick to, this will definately be a regional act. Fortunately, there are lotsa casinos all over the place here. (They pay well) We have some real nice new sound gear, and a pro light show. We're based in Central AZ, with great weather and over 300 days of sunshine a year. The area it growing immensely, and we have a massive tourist base. What's it pay? Well, we're trying to secure gigs paying a minimum of $600 a show, with 5 players and a soundman. Do the math. All that's required of you is mondo chops and experience with lead and rhythm duties, your gear, and the desire to be the best thing to ever hit this area. Btw... we've talked to 16 local guitar players in the last year and a half. We auditioned 12 of them. They either had issues, or wanted to do something else, or time constraints. Or... they just weren't good enough. Please... I'm a bassist playing lead and rhythm guitar. Can you imagine?? HELP!!! Just PM me... If I was selling anything, or looking for a pre-enjoyed specimen of something or other, I'd post there! I guess I could sell off used guitar strings... Shoes
Well it's a good idea but the thing about asking Myles if it can be a header item on the top of thew forum page might be just what it needs to actually work. If it was image free that might make it easier to scan through as well. Can Myles do this kind of stuff? If so .. who asks him.... Caevan... ya Caevan can explain it. Ask him what it is that I don't know what I'm talking about so that he can figure out if it can be done. Good.... I feel better for that already. I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder. Werewolf by Night
Well, I actually have talked with Myles, and one of the "tech"-guys that keep the MP Forums running, about "stickies"- threads that stay put, like mini forums within forums- for things like this, the "for sale/trade/want", "Ask Myles", etc. The Les Paul Forum- a great place, by the way, whether or not you have or even like Gibsons of any kind- has 'em. "Stickies", that is. I guess the current format/software/whatever here at the MP Forums doesn't easily provide for that. So... maybe you could abbreviate the topic-title of this thread, call it, say, "The Master 'cator-thread"? Philip OKeefe
Yup, "stickies" would be a great thing to have, but the current software won't allow for them. I've heard some rumors that we might eventually get new software, but there is a major catch to that - we wouldn't want to make people have to re-register, or lose their member status or post counts or anything like that, and apparently there has yet to be a easy and smooth way to transition things. Or something like that. One alternative is some nifty code hacking can be done, ala what they did on the Keyboard Corner. Somewhere I have the notes on how that was done.... I'm sure dB can give them to me again if I can't track them down... but ultimately, doing that (and which threads to include) would be up to Myles - I can't edit things over here, and this is, after all, HIS forum, where he makes the rules and decisions. But I can get him the information if he wants it, one way or another, and he can even assign the task of designing the logo to someone else if he wants to. Which reminds me.... I really should do some stickies via code (ala Keyboard Corner) over on the PS forum....
