i should burn you a copy of Bireli Lagrene Live @ the Vienna Jazz Festival on DVD. you will freak out!

FJ, I'll take one of those!!! Seriously, I can send you a blank DVD. I just got his "Blue Eyes" CD a couple of weeks ago, which is a little departure from the gypsy jazz he usually does. This guy is amazing. One of my all-time favorites.

How old is he in that video, and when was it recorded? He doesn't look much older than ten. I can't belive the stuff he's pulling off. I'll have to get a blank dvd and send it to you. :):)

I really dig Louis & Raphael Fays. Humbling stuff. :(

DD: Bireli is in his late 30's early 40's now. he was a prodigy by age 9, if i remember right. i have a bunch of his early stuff on DVD.

i'll hook you up with some killer gypsy stuff. Raphael Fayes has a great record called Le Jazz Hot that is just outstanding. let's trade some stuff!

you could help me fill out my fusion collection i bet!

That sounds great. Most of my fusion stuff is on Lp & cassette, so i'll have to transfer them to my computer. I'll make a list of what i have and you can see if you dig any of em. :)

Have you guys heard Jimmy Rosenberg? He's got some wicked gypsy jazz type stuff.

Oh, BTW our own Mr. FunkJazz snuck a new sig-- new to me anyway-- at the end of his posts and he's got some great tunes up on the internet.

check out some comedy I've done:

jimmy and stochelo are both amazing, but i kind of prefer stochelo. they had a group at one point called Sinti, but it only lasted one disc. they were really young, like high school age.

the rosenburg trio (stochelo) is a premiere gypsy band nowadays.

now jimmy (after a stint in prison for heroin) is playing with a swedish mofro in a group called hot club du suede.
