webe123
I am not a big Tele fan, but I wanted one to add to my guitar collection so that I could get a tele tone anytime I wanted to. I was not going to get a squire, but I found a great deal on ebay and decided to take a chance.....but when I got it in I was amazed at how well it played and was built! I had another squire strat (got rid of it) that had very sharp edges, poor electronics and a bad setup. But this squire tele I got used seems to have none of the problems I have mentioned! It has a very nice feeling rosewood neck with absolutely NO sharp edges. As well as electronics that do not crackle and a jack that seems to do the job nicely in holding my cord secure. The neck is straight as an arrow and the body is just a blue painted body with a few chips, but nothing major. So I really can't say that this particular squire is a dog, but rather I think it is a great guitar! I was thinking of getting this and making do and later on trading it in for a mexican tele. But now that I have played it, I think I may just have gotten lucky. Anyway, I have been playing for 24 years and have a collection of american made instruments, so I am no newbie to this. But this guitar just "feels" right. I guess mabye I am one of the few that got a decent playing squire tele. All I know, is that I am very happy with it and could not care less what the headstock says as long as it plays this well. Heck I may just end up keeping it! tiger85
Sounds cool. Just goes to show the subtle differences in similar guitars that one can never fully appreciate until they actually play it. Good find! ...touched down in the land of the Delta Blues.....in the middle of the pouring rain....
chedrob
The original Squier (series) Teles and Strats were made in Japan and are among the best ever. Perhaps you got real lucky and found one of them. The serial number of these guitars stars with JV.
headlow
My first Tele was a Squire. It was a decent guitar. But all it really did was whet my appetite for a better Tele. I sort of wish I had kept my Squire though, as it would have been handy as a back-up.
