Two pretty cool solos, right after the vocal line "just play me John Coltrane"

Cool fills too.

I love that whole album. I have a copy of the performance they did on ACL. He's from texas, and his last name is Vaughn. :D Not that Vaughn. That's all i can remember.

Kenny Vaughan.

He lives in Nashville now. Here's an ARTICLE about him from the Gibson website.

If you ever see him play, he has a unique playing style. He looks really awkward but gets wonderful music out of his guitars.

It's the guy playing in her band that toured for her while opening for Neil Young last year. Saw them in Toronto. Doug Pettibone the name and he must have replaced Kenny Vaughn some time back.

Didn't know her from a rock and instantly fell in love with her style and sound and then bought all her CDs (there's that compulsive thing again) She was on the cover of Acoustic Guitar Player right after that tour.

The lead seems to mimic a trumpet and if not for the line about Coltrane I wouldn't have heard it that way.

We likely all have our Drunkin Angels to help keep us on the straight and narrow.

I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

I pulled the CD and looked through the liner notes (do we still call them that?).. anyway.. Doug is an L.A. session guy who's travelled about with a number of artists and the particular song in question seems to have raised questions from a number of guitarists.

Here's some conversations regarding what he's doing in Rightously:

Hope this helps sort it out.
