Tedster
Seems like I saw some recent pic of Jeff Beck...was it in GP about a year ago? At any rate, the bastard doesn't age!!! What gives? No wonder he's so good...he started on the lute in 1502. He's over 500 years old...a vampire or something. Vortex
Don't get me wrong... but doesn't Ronnie look like such a wannabee next to Jeff? No disrespect but...Damn, that would suck to be Ronnie
bassix
What a dumbass remark to make. Ronnie Wood is cool. I don't know about you guys but as far as I can see only the first two albums with JB are worth listening to, the rest is just boring, emotionless over the top guitarhero kinda crap (not music). You listen to it because it's hard to play stuff but it's just as boring as anything Vai or Satriani. I still can't figure out why anyone would want to listen to their shit. When guitar players turn into guitargods they become obsolete and pathetic. The next peons in the big corporate marketing blah blah games by producers of guitar equipment. Bah. F*ck the system. Guys like Neil Young own them all. Ron Wood knows rock & roll like very few others and has always been sticking to keeping that alive. I have a great deal of respect for him. picker
Originally posted by bassix: What a dumbass remark to make. Ronnie Wood is cool. I agree. The stuff he did with Rod Stewart and the Faces would be enough to hold him in high respect even if he never did anything else. LOVE the guitar on "I'm Losing You". I don't know about you guys but as far as I can see only the first two albums with JB are worth listening to, the rest is just boring, emotionless over the top guitarhero kinda crap (not music). Come on now, Bassix, don't hold back tell us what you really think... Anyone who can call"'Cause We've Ended as Lovers" boring, emotionless, over the top guitarhero kinda crap just ain't listening. You listen to it because it's hard to play stuff but it's just as boring as anything Vai or Satriani. I still can't figure out why anyone would want to listen to their shit.I can't figure out why anyone listens to Korn, but they sell a lot of records. Different strokes for different folks.... When guitar players turn into guitargods they become obsolete and pathetic.Yeah, like Stevie Ray, Jimi, Eric, Buddy, Albert, BB, Freddie, and all those guys; how pathetic can you get? The next peons in the big corporate marketing blah blah games by producers of guitar equipment.Do I sense a conspiracy theory lurking in the bcakground here? Bah. F*ck the system. Guys like Neil Young own them all.I'm confused here; is Neil Young is a boring, obsolete, pathetic guitar hero, or a big corporate marketing blah blah game player/producer of guitar equipement? I don't want to diss him for the wrong reason... Ron Wood knows rock & roll like very few others and has always been sticking to keeping that alive. I have a great deal of respect for him.I'm glad you respect somebody. I was beginnig to wonder... Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else. bassix
You got me wrong, Picker. By saying Neil Young owns them all I was trying to say that Neil is way better as a musician. Albums like "After the goldrush" and "Harvest" are true gems. English isn't my native language so sometimes I mess up a bit The guitar parts should serve the song. With guitar hero type music it often seems to be the other way around which in my opinion is doing stuff the wrong way round. But again, that's my opinion. I've seen too many stuck up guitarists overrate themselves I guess. I played bass for years before picking up the 6 string myself, guess I still got the bass player state of mind. Functional stuff, no ego trips. Stirring shit up since 1968

Big Red 67
Ron Woods is a great second man. This takes a really well defined sence of ego. The second spot is just as hard or harder to fill then the front. Besides I don't think it is who's better, Jeff would make a crappy Ron Wood, Ron would make a crappy Jeff Beck. We all have gifts and they are different. That's why some like Ron, and some like Jeff! Big Red's Ride Blog

Another classic. [QB]Rowan Atkinson ever didEnglish isn't my native language so sometimes I mess up a bit Happens to me and I never learned much of any other language. The guitar parts should serve the song. With guitar hero type music it often seems to be the other way around which in my opinion is doing stuff the wrong way round. But again, that's my opinion. I've seen too many stuck up guitarists overrate themselves I guess. KNow how many guitarists it takes to screw in a light bulb? ALL OF THEM; one to screw it in, and the rest of them to look cynical and say "yeah, but I could do it better than that." What do you have when you have 5000 guitar players sunk to the bottom of the sea? A good beginning that needs to be followed up on. What is going on when you see a bunch of guitar players up to their necks in cow manure? Not enough cow manure. I played bass for years before picking up the 6 string myself, guess I still got the bass player state of mind. Functional stuff, no ego trips.I see it as a palette of colors to paint with. Sure, there is a lot of just plain old fashioned "wanky-me-cranky" going on with a lot of the more technical guitarists, but there are usually a few gems amid the crap. Satriani had "Flying In a Blue Dream" and "Satch's Boogie" and "Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing", Beck had "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" and "Freeway Jam" and "Superstition", Vai had all the stuff he did for the movie "Crossroads" and "Blue Powder" and the "Attitude Song", and of course Yngvie...well he has his ego to keep him warm at night . I have usually been able to find something I like in almost every style of music I sat down with. It's the passion of my life, and no one is all bad at it. Except maybe a couple of high school marching bands I have heard... Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
