SoundWrangler
Saw an amazing talent a couple of times in July on the "Jazz Duos" program (the "BET on Jazz" cable channel), but never caught his name - driving me crazy, because I'd like to check this guy out some more! Progressive jazz, acoustic slide guitar (resonator, as I recall), playing duos with un upright bass player. Looked like he was using some sort of C2 or C6 tuning (lots of tasty 2nds in his voicings) & had a technique of combining fingered chords with upper notes on the slide, like nobody I've seen. Not your typical blues or country-derived approach at all. White guy, maybe 40-50... Anybody have a clue who this is? The channel's own website is worthless for finding this kind of info... GeorgeVW
Dave Tronzo, maybe? He's been known to do duos with bass players. One of the guitars he plays is an old National. Picture here

Gruupi
I saw Bob Brozeman years and years ago sitting in a booth at the Greater Southwest Guitar Show. Me and about 50 other people were standing there going " what the hell is that". I had read about him in GP magazine but did not expect what I heard. He blew away everyone there. Sadly, I havn't taken the effort to try and go see him again or buy any records. Maybe I should get off my butt and go buy some stuff.
