Have you ever switched out the stock Godin humbuckers -- I was ready to start that process and replace the stock with a Duncan JB bridge and a 59 neck. Started inspecting the stock wiring of the current pickups and JEEZ LOUISE it looks like the space shuttle. It appears that each stock humbucker has two, separately insulated leads, looks like maybe one is the dedicated ground, the other is 4 conductor?

I'm a bit squeamish to start the desoldering process (even with the setup video so I know what went where) without having some idea of how this axe is wired.

I bought this guitar used so I have no manual or other paperwork (I discovered by accident the push/pull tone pot), and I've yet to find much of anything other than user reviews online. Great guitar, but the Godin website needs serious help in terms of information provided.

Got any thoughts on this?

i have remembered that the Tetrads are really 4 coils per "humbucker" i have heard they are 2xhumbuckers in each pickup.there is also some kind of filter switching involved that fakes the singlecoil sound (mid cut?) if your lG has a 5 way switch i would bet the actual coil "tapping "is done with the switch and the pull pot is the mid filter. you could also try checking some of the reviews of the LG's on harmony central, some of those guys may have allready done mods to thiers.

somewhere i have read about the tetrads and how they are made of 4 coils each, that may be where i have read that.

That's consistent with my evaluation of the wiring and impact of the 5-way and push/pull. The "coil tapped" positions are as noticeable as in other coil tapped guitars I've played, and that could indicate that it's not a "true" coil tap.

The wiring certainly would indicate they have essentially 4 single coil pickups in there acting as humbuckers.

I'm going to contact Seymour Duncan and see if they have any thoughts as well.

Thanks

well if you are removing them , i would take notes on how it is originally and save the stock pickups for the sake of having the option to return it to original specs. then start wiring the JB and 59 from scratch using one of the schematics from this site.

That's the plan at this point. I downloaded the "2 bucker, 1 vol, 1 tone, 5 way switch w/ splitting" schematic from Duncan on Saturday, and emailed them asking if they had any additional thoughts specific to the Godin LGX.

Other than the tone issues, wiring the Duncans, in my view, should be relatively the same as the schematic.

We'll see.
