lets see... because it doesn't know the words?

 

Lots of possibilities if there was a permanent hum; but if the hum eventually goes away, as you seem to indicate, then it could just require a warm up time, or there could be a failing part. A tech might have a better idea what part that might be.

If it stops when you hold the grill, maybe there's a temperature related component to the electronics? Is it a tube mic? Is something loose, that makes a better connection once the temperature is up? Look for "cold solder joints". If it's new, take it back where it came from.
