Darklava
And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack And you may find yourself in another part of the world And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife And you may ask yourself-Well...How did I get here? Tedster
Uhmmm...a few of you may have missed the posts. We generally refrain from making fun of "special" people on these forums. Several of us, myself included, have raised special kids. Since they can't usually fend for themselves, it's up to guys like us to do it. I think I'm neutral enough, being mid twenties, with a "special" brother. I've seen him suffer all kinds of taunts. Often in his vain efforts to strike up a friendship with someone who wanted nothing more than to tease. I'm also young enough to remember how flippant a loosened teenage tongue can be. I think it's just unfortunate that this episode was logged in the users name. I think if we cast our minds back far enough, we've all got occasions akin to this somewhere in our past. A time when you weren't aware of what unconditional love was? Before you understood everything you understand now. We just didn't have a thread opened on it when we woke up the next morning, to show us how immature, stupid and thoughtless we were being. I'm sure a sincere apology would be the nicest possible end this thread could have? Tea. Pedal Clips
picker
The posts making fun of handicapped people show a complete lack of class. Sober up, come down, or whatever you have to do to return to normalcy. You are way too gooned out to make relevant contact with intelligent life. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Tedster
Yeah, of course I could refrain...because I was a teenager once. I thought the same stuff was funny. Until I was blessed with a special daughter, who showed me how wrong I had been. I really don't get angry with this kind of behavior. "Sad" is a better word...because these people who behave like this have never known the smiles and love a disabled person can give. And I have to forgive them for that reason. The most important thing you guys should remember, is that just because you weren't born special, doesn't mean you can't yet become that way yourself. Some people who have been in bad car crashes, or comatose for a long period of time, can become mentally disabled. Some of you may live your whole lives normally, only to start forgetting things in your 60s, and then hear the horrible word "Alzheimer's" from the doctor. If not you, perhaps your parents...or the grandfather who always took you fishing. Or, you might excitedly accompany your wife to the maternity ward one day, and as the baby is born, hear the nurses whispering in hushed tones "Downs". Take heart. This is not all bad. It can teach you a new way to love. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"

Super 8
Well, it's one of those 'Funny as long as it's happening to someone else' kind of thing. Little kids do this kind of shit because are self-centered and don't care about other people. I think that THE LEAST these guys could do is offer an appology and then remove the childish posts. If they can't do that, then maybe they should be banned from the forums until they at least make it to the 6th Grade. Big Red 67
It's funny my step sister is special. She lives on her own, has a job, and recently spent a couple of mounths in Europe on her own. If you had meet her when she was young you wouldn't have beleived it possilbe for her to do any of this. I am special. I had speach impedaments, (which i overcame at the cost of being called a retard), a processing delay, dyselexa (which I can't ever remember how to spell right{not fair they named it something that someone who has it can't spell!}). I also have a I.Q.of over 128. So you guys don't know what your missing. Big Red 67
I am glad I had the chance to share this if I hadn't adjusted my self to understand that people have a right to do and say what they want if they are willing to live with it then I would most likely be dead by now. As well I am happy to share my limits as I am happy to share my gifts. They are funny sometimes. I am glad I can see that and share that!!! Good comes from anything if you let it. Glad I didn't. Welcome to the forum. I'll let ya start with a clean slate, just remember the couple rules we have around here: 1. Don't put down anyone or say something that might offend someone. 2. Don't talk about politics, there's a forum over in the SSS for that. 3. Don't post obscene or inappropriate pictures. Attractive woman - okay. Attractive naked woman - not okay. Teahead
Hey JJ. You're more than welcome here. Everyone has the right to make a mistake, but only those who've learned something then go on to offer an apology. Don't feel responsible for the other thread either, there were many contributing factors and it probably would have happened with or without your posts.
