Billster
Ok, I was listening Van Halen while doing kitchen chores. VH I, and 1984, bookends on the Roth years. The last song on 1984 (House of Pain) doesn't do a thing for me, but the whole rest of the album is non-stop cool. VH I I don't care for the last song (On Fire), but again, non-stop cool. My question: What album has the best full experience, not two hits, and 35 minutes of BS? Jeff Beck, Truth, works for me, except for "Blues Deluxe" take two posts, and see me in the morning. good night. Buy my CD on CD Baby! Bill Hartzell - the website MySpace?!?! My nominee would be The Soft Bulletin, by the Flaming Lips. I love this album! The funny thing is... ...the last song (actually, two) should be left off for the ultimate experiencing of the album as a 'whole'. That is, after the real last song, there's a pair of "alternate takes" of two tunes previously on the playlist. They're fine, but they totally botch the vibey mood set-up by the final track! I usually play it from my PC's drive via WMP, and remove the last two tracks from the "playlist". I might actually burn a copy sans those two tracks sometime, as well, it bugs me so much! Loose Nut
Audioslave's Audioslave. Oddly enough they could of left off the last song The Last Remaining Light. That's the newest album I like to bug out to. But going back I like Iron Maiden's Killers. There's no dogs in there. bill johnson

Shoes
Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic, Floyd - Wish you were here (of course you've gotta love Shine on you crazy diamond parts 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, & 9!) We'd dump routinely on people who'd put on an LP and place the needle anywhere other than the start or pick it up prematurly. Ya listen to the whole thing man. this aint a radio station for #$%^& sakes! I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

But when the album is first released more often than not I skip the first single for the first year or two. I don't know why. bill johnson

Ya listen to the whole thing man. this aint a radio station for #$%^& sakes! YES, YES, YES!!! I can barely get my wife to leave the car radio on one station for a full song. I'm the same way watching TV. I want to watch a program from beginning to end, even if I have to sit through the commercials. All that channel surfing is bad for the soul (and your attention span) I do like the shuffle feature on my 5 disc changer for a party though. I slip in a disc with 9-10 different versions of the same song, and the shuffler pops it up in there every so often. Folks don't seem to notice Buy my CD on CD Baby! skipclone 1
I was at a party with a bunch of people younger than myself and they were driving me nuts with changing CDs in the middle-sometimes one minute into-a song. Someone asked me if I had any requests and I said, `yeah, put on a song and put the remote in the refrigerator`. The whole group turned around and looked at me like I had suggested going to the zoo and watching the wolly mammoths. Anyway, `Frengers` from Mew-super from start to finish, even the Japan `bonus tracks`. Maia Sharp`s debut-a collection of songs but every one a gem. cosmo115
Like it was said in the LZ thread, it's all personal opinion and nobody should argue or convince you otherwise, but IMHO Van Halen - I through Fair Warning (although Diver Down and 1984 are exceptional too). Led Zeppelin - I through Physical Graffiti. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime and Empire. Their earlier and later stuff is great too, but those CDs are EXCEPTIONAL. and anything by the Bangles or Boy George

Mudcat
Wish I could come up with something new, but alas, I have to go back to the 80s for anything with wall to wall goodness: Roxy Music - Avalon, here is an album that must be listened to from beginning to end to truly appreciate. The Smithereens - Green Thoughts, just a plain great album from beginning to end. Nothing like a Rickenbacker, a Rat and a Marshall to deliver the goods on guitar tone. Reverse the Curse
Who's Next is great... Dark Side of the Moon, but that goes without saying doesn't it? Abbey Road has some GREAT songs on it (something may very well be the best song ever) but they tend to lose me near the end, so... Past Masters V2 Thats all for now The forumite formerly known as Cooper. "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Jedro
Just browsing through my collection. Let's see..... AC/DC - Back in Black Aerosmith - Rocks Beatles -Abbey Road Boston -Boston Def Leppard - Pyromania Donald Fagen - The Nightfly Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run Steely Dan - Royal Scam Tears for Fears - Seeds of Love Tom Waits - Mule Variations Who - Who's Next So there's a short list. I would say my favorites are Tears for Fears and Tom Waits, even though they are not guitar albums. And I have a certain appreciation for Def Leppard and Boston for creating what I call "Perfect" albums, meaning that the songs, performances, production and stylistic timing were perfect. Everybody knows rock attained perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact. - Homer Simpson
