Sean Eldon
I'm selling my current rig, and I'll get about $600 for it. I'll have to buy a new one, immediately. I'm looking for a TUBE amp (either a head or a high watt combo, 2x12 or 4x10) with really smooth, but blasting crunch sound. I don't mess with distortion pedals, so it has to have like, a really heavenly distorted sound. As far as cleans, I want them to sound a little dirty, but still have lots of clarity. I've been looking into the Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10, and that's pretty much got my buck right now...but I'm also really interested in Sovtek heads and old British amps. Any help? Or am I gonna go buy the Fender next week? http://www.purevolume.com/seaneldon
Beermouse
Traynor YCV80 . I own one, have for about a year now. It's 80 watts, has 2X12" speakers, and four 5881 power tubes. Super reliable. Sounds really good for the money. Easily had for 600$ US. I think the reviews on HC pretty much speak for themselves. Click here to see.
Teahead
If you can find one, the Korg Reissue Vox AC15tbx is a fantastic amp for the money. There are not made anymore, but they float around used for about $600-$700. I know it's only 15w and 1x12 and all that jazz! But honestly, it's loud enough to sit with just about any band and will deliver the smooth crunch you want when you crank the volume. It also has a master volume and reverb too! I'm not convinced that the Deville will deliver the smooth crunch that you want, it will also be incredibly loud when cranked to the sweet spot you're searching for. Tea. Sean Eldon
i play in what i believe are two of the loudest bands on the planet. i liked the deville when i tried it in the store. unless i can find a traynor to try out (i think there's actually a dealer nearby), i'll probably get the deville. http://www.purevolume.com/seaneldon
Gifthorse
My advice is pretty predictable. Peavey Classic series amp. Great distortion and a decent clean. I use the head with a 4/12 but I think they sound even better through a 4/10. It has a kickass distorted tone. I recommend this because for the price it is unbeatable. http://flagshipmile.dmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/gifthorse
Mike Gug
Check into the Peavy. The combo is a really nice sound. Mikegug www.facebook.com/theresistancemusic
