LiveMusic
I just traded a Tascam Portastudio5 for a Fostex MR8. The Fostex is far more substantial. Still trying to figure out how to work it. The manual is light years better. Only thing I have not liked so far is I ran out of room and I hadn't even done one song. Manual says you should have six minutes at 44.1 with four tracks but I had only three tracks (two acoustic guitar and one vocal0 and three minutes and ran out. Deleted "unused" file and still ran out. So, I dunno what's going on there. It has 128mb card. Everything I read said you'd need a bigger card but I never read anything saying you couldn't even get ONE song down. Will try again today. Much more satisfied in overall quality. Appears to be more like a mini digital mixer. The screen is hard to read but it's a minor gripe. > > > [ Live! ] < < <
EmptinesOf Youth
it all sounds good tho? the korg unit was OK on memory i ran out of space before one song tho. i plan on recordin them on that and then importing them up to the computer and getting a cheap tracking program to do that for me. LiveMusic
Yes, it all sounds good. I just deleted everything and started over. I now have a song with three tracks complete... two acoustic guitar, one vocal. Now I think I am supposed to bounce those to Track 7/8 and then export that as stereo wave file to PC. And then I assume I can burn it to CD. Remains to be seen, as when I bounce, that takes up two more tracks, meaning more memory. Maybe it will make it. I haven't done much recording, so... There is a decent FAQ on Fostex site on a forum they have: FAQ Link > > > [ Live! ] < < <
EmptinesOf Youth
speaking of bounce, did you nouce all the tracks onto one? would that give you more room? then just erase the two others and add on....?
