i have a giant vintage amp

Reverse the Curse

Recommended Posts

My friends Mom got it for free somewhere and my bud uses it for his bass.

Its some kind of Peavey cabinet with 2 14's I think.

and a Sunn Coliseum Bass head. Its got 5 knobs 2 switches and 2 inputs.

Any of you guys know anything about this stuff?

Probably two 15s in the cab, and probably both of '70s production.

Many an older player rues "trading up" from a remembered vintage fender, Vox, Marshall, Ampeg, etc. to a Sunn amp like that...

Sounds like the deal I'm making tomorrow. A Traynor 100watt tube bass head & 2-15" cab for $250!

Another friend low on cash and an eager gear collector looking for stuff.... as Caevan's little P90 example finally loads up and play! :thu:

Ice cool and clean like spring water! That's very soothing Caevan..

These dialup services at home are dog slow!

I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

(Thanks, 'shoes'!)

Cooper- That's probably a real good bass rig, though. How does it sound?

'shoes'- I've got a Traynor tube bass head around here somewhere, probably about 60-watts (two EL34/6CA7 output tubes, and HUGE transformers) that I bought from someone for $50 as a favor when he was short on cash.

(He said he hated the amp, anyways, later on, forgetting how he talked it's merits up to me when he needed to sell it!)

It can actually do some wild overdrive for guitar, dimed and connected to my trusty GT E Speaker Emulator it's a giant tube distortion box! It's got this weird EQ section, though. "Tone Expanders", or something like that.

I pirated a couple of resistors out of it a while back, but I really should one day restore it, with new tubes, caps, and a proper bias-job. It could probably make a real good bass amp with a little TLC...
