Bought my son a guitar

For my sons 10th birthday i bought him a mini squire. Its not a bad guitar for a begining kid. I didn't want a toy, but i also didn't want to spend a lot. I had to make a few adjustments but all in all I'm happy with the purchase, and he is very happy, he almost cried. He has been working on "sunshine of your love" by Clapton for the last two days and he is doing real good. I just thought i would share that with you guys. Have a good one. Mike

Sunshine! How cool! Better that than "Enter Come As You Are Sandman"!

I love it! The torch is being passed to the next generation! The future of our craft is safe! :thu::D

I'm gonna buy my little rock star (grandson) Preston one of those mini Squires in a couple of years. He's just two now, but you should see him sling his little guitar! It's about a 1/4 size acoustic with steel strings. I shortened a strap so he could wear it...and tuned it to an open E chord. Now all I've gotta do is get him a bottleneck slide.

Lighting the fire is the first step!

Where can I get one of those 1/4 size deals? All I see is cheesy crap that would never hold real strings.

Well, it is a bit cheesy...but for a little tyke it'll work. My wife actually got it. It doesn't have geared tuners...so it's really tricky to tune...you just have to tighten 'em way up. But the action is low enough that he (if his little fingers could do it yet) would be able to fret chords on it. I think my wife bought it out of a catalog. You can say "EWWWW"...or you can reason that it's probably gonna get colored on with Crayolas...finger-painted...and bashed around a bit...so I wasn't gonna buy him a little Taylor :D

My daughter got one of these from Santa a few years ago along with a Fender Champ. I tightened the machines, set it up for her and away she went.

Pretty cool watching them when you do silly stuff like this isn't it! :thu:

My older daughter wants an accustic and I'm thinking about a Fender GDC-100 which would be her size but still full scale.

You can't go wrong buying your children musical instruments :thu::thu:

I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

You can find one here .
I remember seeing Van Halen using one of those (painted up in stripes of course) to play "Little Guitars", and Zappa used to have a mini strat and mini les paul that he had custom filter eq's put in.

Damn, now I want one! It's a mini-gas attack!

They left with Diamond Dave :D

IMO Sammy and VH have a couple good tunes, but VH is not VH without DLR.

on the subject of mini guitars, i went to my local store a few days ago and this guy started playing around on a mini bass. Soon the store owner joined in on a lil' strat and i just couldn't resist picking up one too. Soon there were 'bout four guys all jamming together on tiny guitars which looked quite wierd! :thu: ... jus thought id share the love.

I almost bought one of those BEFORE my son was even born, don't know how I convinced myself not to... but he won't have a problem getting to use a guitar, when he wants to, I always have an extra one around somewhere anyway :D
