madgrinder
I picked up a Line 6 DM4 distortion modeler pedal today, played it for a while (until the missus insisted I turn it down), I like it so far. The sounds are right-on for the tubescreamer, tubedriver, and Proco rat. I haven't experimented with the fuzz sounds yet, but I will tomorrow. BTW... the mom-and-pop music store I frequent is clearancing the DM4's for $110. They are $249 at MF. ...it's Mr Stabby, da da da da da daaaah, da da da da da da daaaah... Big Red 67
You have got to try the delay modeler! It is a blast!! You have enough time in loop mode to lay in a 16 bar and solo over it. I use it to create two guitar lines when the drummers on time. Big Red's Ride Blog

madgrinder
My second night playing with the digi- box... The Big Muff Pi sound is very close (I A/B'ed it with the NY version), the only complaint is a lack of depth. I may have to tweak the EQ on the pedal a bit more. The Fuzz Face sounds really good, but I don't have one to compare it to. I think it has way too much "white noise" behind it, though. Does the real Fuzz Face have a ton of noise?...if so, this is reproduced to the nines. The "Heavy Distortion" setting sounds like Numetal. I plugged in my drop D chugger guitar (the Schecter S-1 flame) and ripped out some "Disturbed" and "Monster Magnet" tones very easily. So far, so good. I can hear some "digitalness" in some of the tones, especially AFTER a note is played. If there is a silence after a note, I can here the digi map kind of "trail off"... it's like a volume knob being slowly turned down. It may be a function of the built-in noise gate. I'll turn that off and see if it still fades. need coffee... must have coffee ...it's Mr Stabby, da da da da da daaaah, da da da da da da daaaah... Big Red 67
Oh yea, if you get the delay modeler make sure to buy the expression pedal. It lets you "wah" thru the range of a knob function. Get's the most amaiseing looks from the sound it can make. Big Red's Ride Blog

Noise seems to be a problem with a lot of mass-produced guitar related effects. My homebuilt amps and effects are quieter than my store bought stuff. Big Red 67
Hey bluestrat, OT do you have any plans for a good reverb. I would like to build my own. The fender reissue looks cool doesn't sound that great, and the original is too much $$$. Big Red's Ride Blog

I do know that you can get the schematic for the Fender reverb unit here . The original uses a 6K6 power tube, and I've heard that the re-issue uses the more easily obtainable 6V6 tube, and that might make a difference in the tone. I also think I remember seeing a schematic from Acutronics(?) for a solid state driver circuit for one of their spring reverb tanks. BlueStrat a.k.a.
