Mudcat
Blue - If you're looking for an amp for recording into your computer as well as practice, you may want to reconsider and take a look at the Roland. It has a variety of amp models (Ampeg Jet, SVT, Fender Bassman, Acoustic 360 & some more). Might be a bit more versatile than the Fender (as far as tone goes anyway). I know Cosmo seems to like his guitar Cube. - Mudcat Mudcat's music on Soundclick "Work hard. Rock hard. Eat hard. Sleep hard. Grow big. Cowbell
Stay away form the Fender Bassman series. I owned a Bassman 60 as my first amp. It was absolutely terrible. For that price you can get a sweeeeet Carvin PB series bass amp. Actually, I would open up a mutual fund account. I just opend one the other day. $25 a month

Mudcat
Blue - Here's another BASS AMP for you to consider. http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/tn/48/482038.t.jpg 100 Watts w/15 inch speaker. $299 at Musician's Friend! I know you were looking for a practice/recording amp, but you could probably gig or jam with a band using this one from SWR. It also has a post EQ line-out and a headphone out too, so it would still do the trick for recording/practice. If you want something smaller, SWR has a 60 watt version with a 12 inch speaker. Don't you love all of the advice you get on this forum? Mudcat's music on Soundclick "Work hard. Rock hard. Eat hard. Sleep hard. Grow big. cosmo115
So what'd you do with all that http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_1_102.gif or are you still deciding? Mudcat's right about Roland's though. The Roland Cube 15 is PERFECT for practice and recording and I'm sure their bass amps are just as great. Last night as a test, I wanted to see just how loud this 15 watt monster can get, so I cranked it to 5 and it shaked the walls and my ears couldn't handle it for more than a few seconds (although it sounded absolutely killer). http://www.gifs.net/animate/speaker.gif I could easily see using it for band practice. Blue Strat
Well, I have yet to go and try any bass amps out yet, at least not head-to-head. I put all that green in the bank yesterday and it's going to pay bills right now. I'm going to get myself set before I consider buying any more gear right now. Here's my short list: 1) A decent bass amp (not too big) 2) My own house 3) A decent setup for home recording 4) Epiphone Casino, or an Epi Dot, or a Harmony Rocket (again) 5) Possibly a new vehicle.
