Steve Vai vs Johnny Rotten

First off, I am not a great fan of Steve Vai, but credit where credit is due, he can play. If anyone is interested in one of his more eclectic sessions then they should check out Compact Disk by Public Image Limited (when Johnny Rotten became John Lydon after the 'Pistols broke up). Not only does it have Steve Vai on guitar (strangely enough his style fits in well in this case) it includes Ginger Baker, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jonas Hellasborg & Bill Laswell. Very interesting results...

What?!!?

After working with Ronald McDonald's Cartmanesque Evil Twin, I'd think you woulda loved it! ;):D

Actually, Ronald had a very good voice when he wasn't trying to be Geoff Tate. Plus although he did not play guitar with our band, since I was always a lone wolf :) , he was an absolutely amazing guitarist and an excellent songwriter, which you couldn't tell by the "Child of Evil" lyrics :D

I can appreciate what it takes to do all different types of music, but Johnny Rotten never did anything for me. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/1/1_4_45.gif

Yes, even Britney's live show has a guitar player.

( off board whisper from son...) Oh right then,

even Britney's tape has a guitarist on it. :D

I heard those tapes make good money, although the view isn't as nice ;)

I have the cassette version, which they called "Cassette".

That is a great great record. To me it features great Vai playing over some pretty good songs and Johnny Rotten has a way of delivering a line is pretty cool. It was one of my first big extended exposures to Vai's playing. The song "Ease" is classic, or Rise which is about a guy after a lobotomy saying "May the Road Rise With You".

Really, unless you're really irratated by Rotten's voice (I'm not, I think he's an original), I think most will find it a a great record with maybe only one "bad" tune on it that I never really got used to called "bags".

Is that why you didn't get it on CD?? :Dhttp://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_2_11.gif

What I meant was, if it is "that" good, why didn't you rush out to get it on CD to replace the cassette. For example: I had Yngwie's Rising Force on vinyl, but the day it came out on CD, I was there waiting for it.

Another poor attempt at humor......Sorry....
