Philip OKeefe
Okay... it looks like my CD-RW is bad. And I NEED to keep using CD Architect. But most of the drives on the SF "Official" drive list are no longer available. BUT, from other sources, I have seen that some people have had success with newer IDE CD-RW drives by using the Options | Select Drive | Advanced | ATAPI MMC Compatable option. BUT, it seems that CD Architect will not work with all drives, even with this "generic" driver - apparently, not all CD-RW's are 100% ATAPI / MMC compliant. Which leads me to the question... What new (currently available) IDE CD-RW's are completely ATAPI / MME compliant? In other words, What new CD-RW drives work with CD-Architect? If you're running CD Architect and are using a fairly new CD-RW, please take a moment and let me know what drive and method for setup you're using. YOU FOLKS ARE MY LAST HOPE - Sonic Foundry doesn't support this product anymore, and there's apparently nothing else on the market that will do totally red book compliant CD-R's AND allow me to print out PQ sheets for sending off to duplication houses. All help and suggestions are GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!!! jgourd
Every drive I have tried using the MMC method worked except those connected via a Firewire interface. These include the Sanyo 24X and the Yamaha 16X. The only problem is that the calculation for the remaining time to burn is way off (no biggie, it still burns at the max rate). ljp
You can always use Colin Hill's CD Architect PreMaster utility to convert a CD Arch cd inmage wave file into an ISO file that any cd burner will burn. Read this http://www.rixware.com/cdarchitect/http://www.rixware.com/cdarchitect/ and get it here http://projecteva.net/premaster.shtml ljp llornkcor rocknroll http://llornkcor.com
Dylan
My Teac 8X IDE CDR-W doesn't work with the MMC-Compatible driver, so I forked out $90 for a Microboards 4X SCSI External Panasonic/CD Architect Bundle on e-Bay a few months ago. I was bummed that I couldn't use my IDE drive as it rocks with everything else and that I had to give up a PCI slot for the included SCSI card. If you want to continue using CD Architect then I'd probably try to track down one of the older, Sonic Foundry approved CDR drives on e-Bay, as I personally have had bud luck with the generic IDE driver on a few drives. But honestly, at this point I wish that I had put the $90 towards Samplitude, as this app is WAY better than anything else when it comes to mastering. Plus, I could of kept burning at 8X with my IDE drive . I wasn't aware of the free utilities of converting CDA sessions to ISO when I bought the drive. I wish that I had been though, as I could of just use Easy CD Creator or better yet, CDR Win to read my sessions. D'oh! -Dylan
