Sauce
the tuning machines in my strat have something loose in them. i have no idea what it is but sometimes they buzz something really fierce. you can't hear it at all when it's plugged in (well not through the amp but i can hear it when i play and if you put your head next to the headstock you could) but it's annoying and i've been putting up with it for a while. and besides that they're just not the best tuning machines. i know the grovers are popular, what would you guys recommend i replace them with? Then you'll never hear surf music again...

Werewolf by Night
Schaller, Grover, and- of course- Sperzel all make some good locking tuners; some are staggered-height to improve things on a Strat-styled headstock, too. Go to Stewart-MacDonald guitar supply for lots of info on lots of tuners. Some may require re-sizing of the holes bored on the headstock, while some may retrofit the existing holes.
