njrocker
Where are they made- specifically the 70's Strat? It wouldn't influence my decision if I were to buy one, I just think they're awesome and I'm curious. Also, what are your opinions on the reissues- specifically the 70's Strat? Dave da Dude
OT, I don't know anything about the '70 re-issue, but I sure like the 50th Anniversayr BUT, it's $5,200 Gotta' geetar... got the amp. There must be SOMEthing else I... "need".
southpawstrat
I believe the 70's Strat reissues are made in Mexico. I don't think there's an American version on the market yet. fogman
I played a '54 or '57 reissue (can't remember exactly). It was the smoothest guitar I've ever played.
doc taz
The Lite Ash strats are nice. Chunky neck, 22 frets, abalone dot inlays, and the trem system is based on the American series. Duncan APII single coils (the reason I think it's worth buying). Made in Korea. Stays in tune relatively well, and with the particular Duncans, sounds very vintage. I'd still spring for the graphite nut, and locking tuners for this, of course, but most folks should be able to just have it tweaked a bit by a tech, and it'll play fine. sevenstring.org profile my flickr page

spoets
You don't have to spend more than about $1,000 to get a great reissue, the 50th Anniversay American Series Strat. I recently bought one and love the sound of the '54 Custom Shop pickups; the playability of the neck; fit and finish are superb; beautiful two-tone burst over a nice piece of ash; and, finally, a really nice tweed case by G&G Cases. I think the $5,200 someone was quoting above is for the Master-Built Custom Shop 50th Strats. The AmSe has the same pickups as the MasterBuilt guitars, and for $4,000 less is a real bargain. Look no further...
Blue Strat
My favorite is the Mexican made Fender 50's Strat (in Daphne Blue or Surf Green). These have a nice soft V shape to the back of the neck, which isn't too thin, but it's still a fast neck. The 70's C shape is good too, but I like the 50's shape better. BlueStrat a.k.a.
