PeeMonkey
I have seen that Guitar center does "Trade Ins" where you bring unwanted equipment and they let you trade it in or something, is this absolute crap and they give you a crappy amount for your instrument? Tedster
A "trade in" is usually a sucky idea. You'd be better off selling something on eBay and taking the cash to GC. Music stores used to sell used equipment on consignment...I think eBay has pretty much eliminated that... gtrmac
Yeah, Tedster's right. Most music stores will give you very low prices on a trade in. Mac Bowne G-Clef Acoustics Ltd. Osaka, Japan
zeronyne
Avoid trade ins at all costs. I am a veteran of a gazillion music stores, including the chains. You will never get a good deal with a trade in unless you are very experienced at wheeling and dealing. Even then, it's not a good idea. "For instance" is not proof. The only decent deals I ever got were from a couple of small music shops run by musicians and a large store with a rookie salesman. So yes, much better to sell it first and take the cash to the store! Money talks! ...touched down in the land of the Delta Blues.....in the middle of the pouring rain....
