A "trade in" is usually a sucky idea. You'd be better off selling something on eBay and taking the cash to GC.

 

Music stores used to sell used equipment on consignment...I think eBay has pretty much eliminated that...

Avoid trade ins at all costs. I am a veteran of a gazillion music stores, including the chains. You will never get a good deal with a trade in unless you are very experienced at wheeling and dealing. Even then, it's not a good idea.

"For instance" is not proof.

I agree 100%! The only decent deals I ever got were from a couple of small music shops run by musicians and a large store with a rookie salesman. :D

 

So yes, much better to sell it first and take the cash to the store! :thu: Money talks!

Bad thing to do yourself.. on the other hand, I was able to pick up a sweet Hamer korina archtop with P90's at a decent price because someone else was dumb :P
