Me, too. My recent faves are the Mike Stern Yamaha Pacifica Tele, and Schecter's C7 Blackjack guitar. Both are great values, esp. the C7, as it comes with my favorite pickup combo, a Duncan 59 in the neck, and the JB in the bridge.

It's actually kind of hard to say, since both Fender and Gibson do not separate out their sales figures in terms of type of product.

But Gibson claims it brought in 250 million last year (but that includes Kramer, Baldwin, Wurlitzer and Slingerland products). Independent estimates, like Music Trades magazine, put them at about NINETY MILLION dollars less, and 28 million of the estimated 160 million is Baldwain alone.

Fender is ranked number 8, but their product line is more guitar than anything else (including Jackson and a few boutiqye brands), so I think their $244 million is more of an accurate figure in terms of guitar sales (relatively). Gibson is 19 on the Music Trades list.

PRS? Not even close.

But think about the logic globally. Samick, Cort and Yamaha are the big players in terms of individual units sold around the world. The numbers dwarf Les Pauls.

BUT I don't mean to be a troll. I'm sure this poll is attempting to find out about people's preferences among the 3 brands mentioned, which are admittedly of a high caliber (well, some of their stuff) and it sure beats talking about politics or whether rap is music or not.

I, for one, have always enjoyed Fender guitars, but the quality is all over the map.

I can't get used to a Les Paul, but I love how they sound.

"For instance" is not proof.

I imagine that Fender/Squire would be one of the top 3 selling guitar companies (especially if you include Guild, Jackson and their other daughter companies). Gibson/Epiphone might be up there too (again, if you include Tobias, Steinberger, Kramer, etc.). But, I highly doubt that PRS ranks that high in actual number of sales. I would think Ibanez, ESP/LTD, Peavey or even Schecter probably rank higher. It depends on how you look at it. I suspect that the Korean company, Samick, actually manufactures more guitars sold in the US than any other single company, but only because they produce bargain guitars for other companies.

I picked Fender since their guitars are my absolute favororites but as others have said, all are really great companies. But just give me a Strat and I'm happy! :D

Fender Stratocaster. Teles are nice too.

But I love the sound and feel of the others, especially Les Paul, ES 335, SG.

Finances dictate what I can own.

Another vote for Fender here. I, too, have all three, but the Les Paul and the PRS have been sitting in the closet for the last 10 years. I do love my ES355, but for most jobs, it's either the Strat or Tele.

GET THOSE GUYS OUT OF THAT CLOSET NOW!

They are made to be PLAYED!:eek:

I can help you clear your closet, Fendercaster! I have two guitar stands just waiting for an LP and a PRS to fill the void! :D

Where is this info coming from, zeronyne? Gibson is a privately owned company. They answer to nobody and don't publish their sales figures, so I'm wondering who at Gibson supposedly claimed any figure?? That sounds like a sure-fire way to get fired by Henry. ;)

But yes, by numbers of units Samick or Ibanez must dust Gibson and Fender. I would entirely expect Fender to sell more guitars than Gibson. They're average price is far lower than Gibson, as is the case with the Samicks. Plus, Korean manufacturers sell far more to other parts of the world than American manufacturers.

One more for Fender! I actually had the opportunity to get any guitar under $2000 in Guitar Center I wanted at no cost to me a while ago and I ended up with a Strat. All my friends thought I was crazy.

I have a American Standard Strat (surf foam green with a matching headstock and a trem plate signed by Buddy Guy). I love my paul, I'd love to have a PRS, and I love my tele (many friends say the tele is the best guitar I have). None of the other guitars I have ever played is as usefull as the strat.
