LiveMusic
Just wondering if you do this or know of performers who do. There are vocal harmony products out there like TC Helion stompbox thingie (expensive!) that do harmony and all kinds of vocal effects. Do you know if these vocal processors can add a lot to a solo performance? Just a guy and a guitar. Other question is do you use or know of solo giggers using the harmony function. What do you think of that? Artificially adding a harmony part. My buddy likes to use the vocal harmony function on his arranger keyboard but I don't care for it. I was just wondering what other people think. I mean, there's only one guy up on stage... where is the girl harmony coming from? Just wondering if others think it adds alot to a performance. Or detracts. But again, also, just wondering about processors... the vocal effects... if you DON'T use harmony... if processors add a lot of sparkle or whatever to the performance. > > > [ Live! ] < < <
Dennyf
Anything that gets you more gigs is cool. However with harmonizers, prerecorded backing tracks, etc., one starts to approach a fine line between solo performance and karaoke. When I play solo, it's just me and my guitar. And an occasional over-inebriated audience member. One technological "enhancement" that I DO think is cool is using a phrase sampler/looper while playing. Saw a guy using one of these to provide his own accompanyment when taking guitar solos. band link: bluepearlband.com music, lessons, gig schedules at dennyf.com STURGEON'S LAW --98% of everything is bullshit. I found one the other day but it was not Boomerang + (expanded memory), it was the original Boomerang. Still looking. (For a used one.) I was telling my brother about the Boomerang and using a "porch board" for rhythm. And we got to discussing vocal harmony. And I'm not a great singer and we got to talking about vocal effects to make me sound better. > > > [ Live! ] < < <

Dak Lander
Do what ever tickles your fancy. If it works and you get rave reviews, more gigs, mor pay & etc. Great! If not, toss it and go nekkid. Personally, I do go nekkid, with just a touch of reverb on the system. The one thing I'm thinking of is an acoustic processor for the guitar to get chorus & etc there when I want but that's it. Don't know how I'd feel about a vocal processor. Might work as long as it wasn't overboard. Our Joint "When you come slam bang up against trouble, it never looks half as bad if you face up to it."
