I checked out the new MP3.com site (The old MP3.com was bought up by C-net) and I have one song up there. Their license agreement has some onerous language in it (regarding exclusivity and the site being able to use your music for their promotions), but the site administrators insist the lawyers made them do it, and they're not going to enforce certain provisions. I'm probably going to un-enroll from them.

Soundclick has okay licensing without the language of they can use your music, etc. I'd like to see songs available for download without requiring the listener to register. I think D-Music allows that. I like seeing the statistics on Soundclick, so I can tell if a particular promotion is drawing listeners.

As a Berklee alumni, I also have a webspace available through them with a turnkey page generator so I don't need to code anything. That's what I use for direct links to one offs not on the Soundclick site.

Most internet access providers allot users server space, but you have to write your own html and upload it. You also have to register a domain if you want to make a totally pro presentation.

I also like Digital Music, as JunkJazz does. It's been pretty stable and normally up though I've recently had problems with direct links and even access to songs on the site from within dMusic. I still like it better than SongRamp or Soundclick.

I'm still futzing around with some others too but it's looking more and more like the best thing to do is have your music on your own site and use the others as secondary hosting sites.

I just registered my own site, that way I can make it look how I want etc. Of course having a bit of html under the belt helps (it's not for everyone though, plus you have to deal with ftp'ing pages/songs etc up to it). All I have to do now is add music!

garageband.com is pretty cool. If you go through the effort to review other artists songs you can put yours in the process and get reviews. The big problem is that there are loads of morons who can't spell or think apparently and you're gonna be reviewed by everyone. For every thoughtful lengthy review you're gonna get 5 or 10 jackasses who may give you good scores, but aren't gonna write anything thoughtful in their review.

If you don't want to be in the review process you can just post em I believe. They got a bunch of the old mp3.com's tunes.
