Southeastern US Get-Together

BiC

Recommended Posts

Just a thought being triggered by my many malfunctioning neurons... being that there will be a get-together out west, how about one for the southeastern US... in let's say around January 2005? ;)

The reason why I chose January is because this is when we will finally be leaving Mother England and will be in southern Mississippi with my Wife, visiting with her family.

Actually, we'll be in Indiana as well, visiting with my family.

Furthermore, we should know THIS month where the Air Force will be sending us next. So, who knows? We may go somewhere near one of you all.

Anyhoot, anyone up for a southeastern get-together? We'll toss it around and see what we can come up with. :thu:

Peace :)

Anybody up for hosting the event? Since it will be winter, it will probably have to be indoors.

Too bad my in-laws place isn't large. Any ideas?

Well... Maryland is certainly in the east, and it is south of the Mason-Dixon Line (although it's pretty hard to make the stretch and call it the Southeast... ). But if it's not too deep into the south (ie. "too long of a drive"), I'd love to try to be there. Maybe somewhere in the Carolinas?

Maybe we should do a Mid-Atlantic version too!

May all your thoughts be random!

Thank you for the offer! We should definitely keep that option open. I wonder if Shannon is able to host it since Alabama is in the "middle" of all of us who have expressed interest. Just trying to make it as easy as possible for everyone to attend. Let's see, so far we have folks from:

New Orleans

Mississippi

SC

Alabama

Georgia

What city do you live in, Shannon? No pressure though, since Lee has already offered to be Hostess.

If I'm not mistaken, Lee also happens to have a recording studio. Hmmmmm.....?

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to make any such event. I'm overbooked as it is.

Well then, that would be even more ideal! We could do a benefit recording, "We Are The Forum", to the tune of "We Are The World"! :D

Sorry been out of the office all day. I would love to have you guys come down. I don't know if anyone will want to come here though... I live waaaaay out in the country... 3 bed 2 bath house... but I don't have extra beds... or a couch... and I work outside of Dothan but i live outside of Ozark... Dothan is in the very bottom right hand corner of Alabama about 30 min from the panhandle and 30 min from Georgia and Ozark is about 20 min North of Dothan...

So in other words... you're all welcome :D

But it may be kinda outta the way... and a little cramped for space...

the recording studio sounds cool  ...

I'll go to Atlanta.... really I'll go anywhere if someone gives me some floor space to crash on :) ... I can afford the gas but I don't know about a room

Just let me know :thu:

I'm interested! Atlanta would be nice. Lee's already visited Nashville, and besides, my house isn't great for entertaining a bunch of people.

But if anyone would like to hold this in Nashville, and if we end up with a large contingent, I could probably swing access to my company's rehearsal hall. It's designed as a dance rehearsal space, there would be plenty of room. We have a full size fridge that's usually empty (cast members bring lunch, but rarely keep anything in the fridge overnight.) a water cooler, Coke machine, Bunn coffeemaker and Royal cup coffee, a nice lounge. Plus, as much room as necessary to jam. Plus, there's a second medium size hall and several office spaces we use for vocal rehearsals.

Otherwise, it's a great place to have a bash! But if you guys are interested, we'd have to make some plans. Rehearsals for the first cast of our winter/spring cycle of ships begins the 11th. Using it at night wouldn't be a problem, so long as we clean up after ourselves well.

Just a thought. Frankly, you can save me time planning and cleaning up by having it by Lee. ;):D

Thanx for the offer Neil! Of course, you all can have this bash whenever you want. Once again, I chose January because that is the month my wife & I will be returning back to the states. These are our plans:

-Get out of "dodge"- Mother England around Jan 2.

-Be in Mississippi to visit with her family around Jan 3-9.

-Drive to Indiana to visit my family around Jan 9.

Nashville would also work out for me since my hometown is only about 3 1/2 hours from Nashville.

If we do Atlanta, I may be able to make it on Saturday, Jan 8.

If we do Nashville, I should be able to make it anytime between Jan 11-23.

But please don't plan this thing around me because my schedule must remain very fluid since I'm in the Air Force. I still don't know which base I will be returning to. That could change all travel plans. I just wanted to give everyone an idea of my tentative schedule.

Decide upon a month&date/host city, and I will do my best to get there with gee-tar in hand! :thu:

Right on!

Well like I said, you guys are all welcome here. And yes, I have a recording studio/jam room, so we can have a good ol' time. I'll have to make sure my bandmates are around so we have people there to play with besides guitar players! :D

So far as I know, I doubt anything will be going on during any of the dates in January that you guys mentioned... but geez, I practically never plan things that far ahead. :D
