Jim is fitting the Bigsby for free if I buy the LP and trem from him. He will do a full setup with my favorite Hybrid Slinkies and set the height on the P90's.

It will look like this, but with a B7 long-tail Bigsby (like a trapeze)

Total cost $560 :D:D:D:D:D

What kinds of music do you play, mostly, anyways?

I have been playing mostly hard rock and metal, but I am expanding into a bluesy style now. All my other guitars are HH hardtails.

I think the P90/Bigsby on the LP will expand the styles and sounds I can play...not to mention the cool 50's vibe my brain will feel, since I practice at times in front of a full-length mirror.

Cool!

I love "soapbars", and I have a '97 Les Paul Studio "Gem" with P-90s, that I string-up to be tuned to Open-D. I thought about putting a Bigsby just like yours on it, but have been experimenting with "benders" instead. (They affect only one individual string, and pull it up in pitch to a pre-set amount, like a half-step or a whole-step bend, for "pedal-steel"-like effects within chords.)

Try tuning that thing to Open-G (D-G-D-G-B-D, low-to-high) sometime if you wanna get all '50s and rootsy-bluesy-retro-twangin'. Very "Chuck" and especially "Keef" sounding. (I know Chuck Berry didn't tune to Open-G, but you can't help but sound kinda like a-ringin'-a-bell from time to time with a soapbar-guitar tuned that way!) It works fine with the gauges you'd use for standard-tuning.

Dare I even evoke the High Priestess of the Church of Keith... ? ;):D

I still say... getcha some Archer brand Teflon gel from Radio Shack, to apply to all moving parts and string contact points, including the bridge and nut-slots. A tiny amount will do all you'll need.

And maybe some Graph Tech saddles; if you have any tuning troubles.

And maybe even a set of those new locking Grover tuners, they look to be really sweet!

Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do?
