Tedster
Just noticed you're from just across the state line. You do a lot of gigging here locally? "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
picker
Not lately. I was with a band called Boomers for a while, but I got politicked out of it a few months back. The conga player/Elvis impersonator wanted to work with a guitar player he is best buds with who had just moved back to town, the bass player wanted to work with the conga player, the drummer just wanted to keep working, and the keyboard player was in the middle of a divorce and couldn't be bothered with details. So I am looking for a gig if you know someone who needs a guitarist. I hit the jam at the Triple Tree for two or three tunes a few Sundays ago, and that's about all I have done for a while. Might make it to the jam at Winslow's BBQ next sunday, the bass player for the Cobalt Project is a friend of mine, and he says he'll let me play all afternoon if I want. How about you? you play out around here much and who with? Love to come see you... Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else. Tedster
The bass player from Cobalt Project is a killer bassist. As a matter of fact, the first time I went and jammed with 'em, I was with Tom Capasso (co-moderator of the bass forum) They're all good, the guys from Levee Town and all...Sue's a great singer, too. I've jammed at Blayney's with 'em a couple of times, but, actually, I think I feel a tad bit more comfy with Mark and Sue from Blue 88 there on Tuesdays. I don't go there often, once in a great while, but those guys make you feel like you've known 'em for a long time, whereas I don't quite get that at the Cobalt jam. Perhaps we can meet there at Blayney's on a jam night sometime. Or perhaps Winslow's...haven't been there in awhile. Think the last time I was there I jammed with Zoe and the Mofoes. I've seen a band with an Elvis impersonator at the Wabash Barbecue. I think they're called the Reunion Band. I call him one of the two best guitar players I know personally. It was a different band when I was there, Shannon and The Rhythm Kings, I think. They spent more time playing their own stuff than jamming, but they were nice to everyone. Sue's a great singer, too. Paul is always a nice cat, don't know any of the other guys. Perhaps we can meet there at Blayney's on a jam night sometime. Or perhaps Winslow's...haven't been there in awhile. I think they're called the Reunion Band. Boomer's Elvis impersonater only does it for a song or two. He has the fakey plastic helmet-looming wig and a white jump suit, and he ain't bad, but it's more about being funny (he says his job is to jump around like a monkey and make people laugh) and it is. He's a pretty good dude, really. Gary is his name, can't think of his last name. Boomers is a fun band, not bad musically. They are mostly doing old top 40 stuff(Long Cool Woman, Gimme Three Steps, Babe, Black Magic Woman, 867-5309, that sort of of thing), but it's okay. Let me know if and when you wanna jam somewhere. Are you gigging now? Or did you say so and I missed it? Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
picker
Hey, I found out that Guitar Source over at 95th & Quivera is having a sidewalk sale this Saturday. I guess they are gonna put some stuff out on the sidewalk and take any reasonable offer. Don't know what all they are gonna blow out, but if you get that GAS modd going on, you might find some stuff cheap... Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else. Tedster
I've heard about Guitar Source. Haven't gotten there, I live way up yonder in the northeast-land, so my trips down there are not frequent. Sounds like a fun outing, though, and I've got Saturday off...time to drag the girls (my daughter and her friends have a beginning band). Paul Greenlease, yeah, he's a great bassist, and about the most amiable guy in the band. Sue's nice, too, she has a killer voice. Yeah, Blue 88 does the Tuesday jam at Blayney's. Never met Ron Conkin, sorry to say. Would have liked to hear him. There are some burners in this town. Sad to say, I'm not one of 'em, but I have fun, ya know. My schedule might slow down here in about a week or so...leave me open for some jams. I'll PM ya. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
