Considering one for playing in church. Robelli acoustic electric, flame top, cutaway ( Sam Ash) for 129.00 ( lots of positive reviews) or O.S. ES-335 style for 149.00 at Musician's Friend. Anyone familiar with these brands? I know O.S. is parented by Washburn.

Doesn't sound too promising so far! Have also looked at Jasmine and lower end Takemines. Played an Ibanez Artcore ( 299) and was really impressed, guess I'm looking for too much of a bargain though. The Rondo guitars look great but I don't think they offer their own credit cards like the others ( I'm REALLY low on dough). Maybe I'll just go to Home Depot and buy some wood! :D Thanks guys!

it was crazy, like in one day, it was just broken!!! :) im sure that doesn't alway happen, just me being unlucky . i used to have a cheap(<200) ibanez, and never had a problem with it!!!

Oh no, not cheap. I'm always looking for guitar bargains myself. I agree, Ibanez makes nice guitars for the money as does Washburn and Alvarez on the acoustic side of things. I've got a '93 American Strat and an Epiphone Sheraton myself. Thanks for the head's up on CR though. I wanted to know before I bought one.

Yes, you may be right. I've actually been considering those also. And the local stores carry them so I can try 'em out there. Consistency sounds very good after reading you guys' experiences. Also considering Ibanez ( see new thread ) :D Thanks for input!

Check out the internet for deals on the foreign made Hamer Echotone guitars. 335 style, only available in red, but I found one on the web for $225 last summer. They come with 4 wire Duncan Designed pickups, and I had a coil tap put in it, which made it more versatile. Tapped and inthe center postion, it had a Gretch-y quality to it. Wish I still had it; same ol' song and dance, money got tight...

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

I stand corrected. ;) I own one of the Rogue ST-3 Strats, made by Squier. I'd heard that they were the same as an Affinity Strat, but the body on the Rogue is definitely plywood. I can see the laminations when I take the pickguard off.

zachg, the Sheraton, with natural finish and gold hardware, is really one of the nicest guitars I have owned in a while. It looks great ( I like it better with the pickguard off)- the binding and everything else on it are flawless, it plays great ( I use Ernie Ball .009, have for over 75 years), and sounds super! The buckers can scream or purr. My brother and I were playing an old Byrds tune, very chordy, he on the Epi and me on the Strat and the rhythmns sounded great together on Fender Princeton 65 and Deluxe 90. Unfortunately I've had to sell the amps and the guitars are in hock- that's the economics of that situation. Sucks.

But I highly recommend the Sheraton. Also great for laying around and strumming unplugged!

One more thing. The Sheratons look great in all of the color options with the standard gold hardware. Its very close to the ES-335 I think.

Lynn,

Did you ever do anything to that axe there? It's just so plain vanilla... It needs something...

Blue:

Cleaned up a couple of cold solders (no wonder the pups were weak) tightened the tuners, couple of tweaks on the relief and it plays real good.

Thought about some brass knobs and tuners but saving the money for another axe. Wierd thing about the pups is that the black covers are actually attached to the coils - so new covers - or lack of - won't work  Oh yeah and scraped the decal off the headstock.

You could take it to an airbrush artist, or you could use some stickers and punkify it! :D Take a look at the Rogue (scroll down):

Or you could get it done like that Danelectro in your avatar. ;)
