Bbach1
All of a sudden, my low e string is making a kind of buzzing sound. Not through the amp. It kind of rattles when it is struck, even unplugged. I have checked the tuning and changed the string. I thot it must be me, so I tried another guitar and that works find. What could be the problemo? bbach Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. A String
There are many issues that can cause strings to buzz. Check out the bridge and nut first. Also, try holding down a note and hit the string, then move up the neck and hit the string again, does it still buzz? If not, it could be a fret issuse. Try moving up and down untill you find the "Bad fret". Also, I'm not sure what type of guitar it is, but some guitars have a little height adjustment thingy on the bridge, if you've recently changed string gauges or haven;t had your guitar "Tuned up" in a while, this could also be the problem. There is also the neck adjustment... Your best bet is to try some of these things out...if you can't get it, or do get it and it is beyond your abilities to repair, then bring it in to your local music shop and have them fix it up for you. The good news is, it's probably nothing serious. Craig Stringnetwork on Facebook String Network Forum My Music
Caevan O’Shite
It could also be needing a little loosening of the truss-rod adjustment; if so, an eight- or a quarter-turn at a time will do it (maybe even only the first time). Mine have had similar troubles of late- it's a Summer/humidity/temperature/barometric pressure thing; Seasonal, and ongoing, and normal. In Autumn, you may well have to do the oposite, to allow for a slight drying of the wood. If you've tuned down at all that;ll leave the 6th-string a bit floppy, especially with light-gauge strings, doubly so if it's a shorter scale instrument! _________________________________________________ (Janet "Wardrobe-Malfunction" Jackson, whipping around on stage and glaring at hired-gun sideman guitarist after unscheduled squealing feedback and whammy-bar extravaganza murks her groove:) "Whathehell wuzzatt?!!?"
