Tedster
So, last night I come home, and there's a guitar case sitting in the living room. I thought it was my Guild acoustic...but after a closer look I knew it wasn't. It turned out it belonged to Lindsay's friend, Holly, who'd sorta "indefinitely" borrowed it from her grandfather (he's old and ailing and doesn't play much anymore). So, I checked it out...and it was an Epiphone Emperor II in natural maple. Cool beans! The bridge (intonation) needed setting up, and a new set of strings, but, Holly's got herself a sweet guitar! Now she's gonna have to learn some rockabilly licks (I'd have said "Joe Pass licks" but heck, that's a long way off). Just like this, except it's not the Joe Pass signature model... http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/51/518550.jpg "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"

PBBPaul
I have the Joe Pass sig model. It is a sweet sounding guitar. Very nice clean tones through my old ReverbeRocket. Nice acquisition! NMcGuitar
I'm jealous. The only thing I've ever gotten from a relative that wasn't using it anymore was a cheap set of left-handed golf clubs . (BTW, even though I'm left-handed, I use right-handed clubs when I commit golf). Good for her! Did you do the setup for her Ted? How does it play? Gimme more info!! (So I can get even more envious . Tedster
Haven't done the setup yet...will do so tonight. It's got (natch) a floating bridge on it...so apparently her grandpa wasn't sure about that...it was a half step flat at the octave . I told her not to worry, it's an easy fix. Dak Lander
Real Purty I'll bet. Some people have all the luck. Great acquisition for Holly. I agree with Badblues, ya gotta get at least half an hour & a brew or two with the guitar for settin' it up. (Guess I better start learning some Weird Al and Frankie Yankovic licks ) Great find for Holly.. why couldn't my grandfather have been a guitar player? He only argued some cases before the Supreme Court and revised the basic multi-volume text in his field of law for 30 years! All we have is 15 or 20 volumes of Nichols On Eminent Domain! ( )Hey, if you've got an accordian, then you could try leaving it in your unlocked car at night. You heard about the guy who left his accordian in his car in a bad part of town. When he came back, his window was smashed in, and when he looked in his back seat, there were TWO accordians. Nawww...learn some Cajun/Zydeco stuff on it. Actually, the accordian can be much hipper than it's given credit for. And if your grandpa was a famous lawyer, damn, he should have at least invested in a brand new (back in his day) Martin or something. Sorry...to both Neils. fantasticsound
You don't really play Zydeco on an accordian this size! It's huge! Talk about a boat anchor. Not to mention I need to find someone local who can assess its' condition. It's easiest to find me on Facebook.
