What do you think about this guitar

I dunno. That guitar's a one trick pony - a single humbucker in the bridge position is great for hard rock and metal soloing but will be lacking for pretty clean tones or overdriven blues stuff.

I'd look for something with at least two pickups.

I noticed that the ad did make mention that the neck was straight. That's a plus.

Depends on whether or not you want to purchase an inexpensive guitar over the web, I reckon...

That Peavey case was certainly not made with that guitar in mind, meaning that it's not an original pairing; although it appears to fit.

That looks somehow familiar, but I can't quite place it. I believe that it's been refinished, and that "Shredder" was added to the headstock. Those are super chincey looking tuners, too!

I'm not saying you should spend a fortune, but a guitar that doesn't play or feel or sound right can really discourage a beginner. (Used to be a part of the "weeding out process" in years gone-by; only the most faithful stuck it out 'till they could get a great-playin' axe!)

How about the johnson 3/4 Js-050. I seen a review on a mini squire and the guy said the tunners and knobes where cheap, but it sounded good. He said he had also tried a the johnson i mentioned above and it seemed better built but he did not like the sound. Any opinions, should i go for sound or quallity? Thanks Mike

I have seen guitars with the "Shredder" name on the headstock before. They are el cheapos from some country in the orient, roughly equivalent to a bottom of the line Sears & Roebuck guitar.

I wouldn't buy it for your kid, if it were me. If the kid really takes to the guitar, you're just gonna have to get him a better one anyway, and you will not get much out of the Shredder in trade. Get him something used but halfway decent that he can play for a while. If he doesn't take to it, you can get more of your money back out of it when you sell it.

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

I'd be careful of this one. I've similar guitars in pawn shops (3/4 size) for $39 or so. I second Prague's comments, go to a music store and try some out.

After his auction tanks, I want to see if this case belongs to a Peavey T-60. My far more substantial Peavey T-60 case, which was stolen with my Lotus Strat-clone 14 years ago was about the last of it's type. After that, Peavey made molded cases like this one for some time. I'd love to get a cheap case for a cheap price that will fit the T-60, whose electronics I'm currenty replacing. :P

Hmmn, I stand corrected! Although, I was basing my judgments on the (egh-HEGHMN) qualities of the finish and logo-script in the pics. I woulda thought that someone had put together parts from two or three (cheap) guitars, and done their first finish-spraying on it!

There are any number of "starter packs" made by brands that we have all heard of. That would be the way to go.

Having a well-made guitar can go a long way toward what may become a lifetime spent enjoying music. On the other hand a guitar that will not stay in tune, or that is other wise difficult to play because of things like build quality is enough to make even the most determined person throw the axe down in disgust and run like hell

So those calluses are supposed to be there; right?
