what do you think of the tele '72 thinline(semi hollow w/ 2 humbuckers) remakes/reissues?

also the newer '72 tele custom(w/ 2 humbuckers and 4 tone and volume knobs) remakes/reissues?

I have one (see other thread, but I kind of got sidetracked and didn't talk about the sound, so...)

I got this because it sounds like a Tele, but without the harshness you can have with 'normal' tele's, also, being semi hollow, you get this "woody" semi tone, no feedback, fender scale(important to me!) - it fits in just right in our band sound

I can go from jazzy to cut-off-some-ears-treble with a flick of a switch and a turn of a knob, and have everything in between available in one solo - if I would want this - no effects needed

to get this I did have to do some setting up: I have the pickups as low as possible (= half a turn back from loose) on the bass side and almost touching the strings on the treble side, this way I can turn don the tone knob without my tone getting muddy on the lower 3 strings and still have some chime on the top 3, then when I turn up the treble during a solo, my guitar really stands out, without having to resort to huge volume - btw I usually set up the amp sound with guitar volume halfway to 2/3 back which is rhythm setting, this way I cut through the mix playing rhythm and have some "spare volume" for solo (just make sure when there is a sound guy, he KNOWS about this --> let him hear BOTH, or aafter your first solo, nobody will EVER hear any of your fancy rhythm playing - when you turn up that guitar, things will go "RED" at his console, and he'll turn you down as F***ING FAST as he can (and forget about you)

- due to recent cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been SWITCHED OFF

My favorite custom Tele:

Mike Stern's Yamaha Pacifica Tele. Tried this about a month ago, and it's an excellent guitar that can do virtually any style. If you're a picky Tele purist, you might not like it, but everyone else will LOVE it! I know I did. ;)
