Starman
Does anybody know what year the Gretsch Chet Atkins Anniversary models were produced? I was told that only 250 are in existence in the world. is it also true they all came into a green color and featured two humbuckers?
Mudcat
I'm not familiar with this model. I know of the Gretsch Anniversary and Double Anniversary Models, and I also know about several Chet Atkins models (I own a Tennessean), but I have never heard os a "Gretsch Chet Atkins Anniversary Model." Are you certain about this name? Mudcat's music on Soundclick "Work hard. Rock hard. Eat hard. Sleep hard. Grow big. Starman
hi Mudcat, No I'm not certain of the name. All I know is that this guitar is a Chet Atkins anniversary model of some sort. And that is green in color, has two pickups and only 250 were made???

These are big files, so I didn't post the pictures directly into this message. Please note, this is not a "Chet Atkins" model guitar. The back & neck of this guitar is green. Gretsch made a bunch of these guitars in the early sixties. They were on the budget end of their price spectrum. The guitar that you are refering to may be a different model. There was a high-end Gretsch Chet Atkins model with a fairly limited production run in the late '60s or early '70s. It had a bunch of switches on the upper bout (8, if I'm not mistaken) and I think it was available in green. Not sure what this model is called, although I know it is not the Country Gentleman, Tennessean, Super Chet or Atkins Axe. Here's a photo of Chet with this guitar on the cover of the "Chester & Lester" album: http://www.misterguitar.com/discography/images/chesterlester.jpg Hope this helps.
