Do you find guitars beautiful?

I was playing last night and I stopped to have a smoke. As I was sitting there it dawned on me how incredibly beautiful I find my Telecaster. Even if I never played again I think I'd keep 1 around just to look at. Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? ;)

Yeah....I, too, need to find another girlfriend. :D

Seriously, even an old beat-up guitar has it's charms. Those curves, holding her body close to mine, caressing her smooooth neck, getting her to scream and moan just by touching her in a certain way...

Yeah...uh...sorry...got carried away...

Tele :freak:

When you go to NAMM, and stroll booth after booth of incredible woodworking and finsih exicution it becomes really apparent not only the amount of skill that goes into making guitars, but the amount of love and care that goes into design and picking the woods and finishes.

Fender guitars in general are very utilitarian, (as they were meant to be) and though the designs are good looking, any particular 'love' for one strat or tele over another similar strat or tele is likely a personal issue. (As it would be with hundreds of other utilitarian but equally well designed and attractive guitars.) But a trip through the PRS or Brian Moore rooms, or the Goodall, Breedlove, or Santa Cruz booths.... I mean, ...wow...

Whoa there. Are you subjecting your axe to smoke? What if she gets cancer?

Guitars are like women (But louder :P ... Sorry, it just popped up in my head & I had to let it out). Each has her own look, her own personality, and her own "attractiveness". And just like with women (or with men, if that's your preference), some you could look at for hours and still want more. Which ones effect you that way is obviously an individual, personal thing.

I guess as guitarists we have a predeliction for finding guitars attactive (just like, as a straight male, I find women attractive). My faves are my strat, my LP Custom, and my Artcore. Those I would keep just for their looks, even if I could never play again (damn! I hope that never happens!! ).

So, anyway... to answer the original question, yes, I've got the same problem. It's not just you. :thu:

Good thought. Like a '69 Charger looks fast just sittin' there, my black beauty seems to scream to me from the case.

I'd stick it in a glass case if I lost my arms.

Likely cry every time I looked at her too.

Thankfully shoes and women have very little in common! :D

I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

YES.

(Thanks to Gruhn Guitars for the hijacked image.)

That's George Gobel's own L-5CT prototype by Gibson, with a 25&1/2" scale. (Production models were 24&3/4".) The L-5 style tailpiece doesn't show very well, and the write-up indicates a cherry red finish. (They're generally noted to be in Gibson's "Wine Red".) The whole image does NOT do this gorgeous guitar justice!

I wish I could have an electrified version, with two PAF's and some kind of "acoustic" style pickup in/under the bridge.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I do!

George was more of an entertainer who used the guitar almost as a prop in his act, but he could play and obviously had very discriminating tastes when it came to guitars!

Guitar Player magazine ran a photo of one of those L-5CTs in an installment of Tom Wheeler's "Encore"/back-page column. That has been one of the most "pin-up/centerfold" guitar-images for me ever since! Absolutely beautiful.

I'm that way with the classic type of guitars

It's like seeing an old car

It also seems that the more battle marks on it the more sexy

I love the faded white pickguards...

oh baby

I get excited everytime i see Rory Gallagher's guitar

There's NOTHING sexier than a hot chick playing a hot guitar with gusto. (Lee take note. That's why we love you so much.) :thu:

I want to see the Donnas in concert. I fear they'd be too teenie bopper right now though. In a few years, they'd be coming into their own. LP's and Marshalls. :thu:

The first one I posted was Michelle Meldrum of Meldrum. No doubt, you've seen me post pics of her before.
