A McLeod III
What's up forum? I was in one of these little Mom/Pop stores over the weekend and came across these little practice amps made by Stone. What really caught my attention was how this manufacturer went out of the way to make them look like Marshalls. Gold control plate, purple lamp jewel. This particular model that I played was a 6L6 equipped tube model (Fan cooled-thought that was interesting) It had an un-marked 12 inch speaker in it that felt and responded a whole lot like a Celestion model and built in spring reverb. This amp actually sounded very nice ! And loud. The clean channel was very Fender-esqe and the overdriven channel provided a very tight Marshall type crunch. They were selling for about $250.00 in the 1x12 configuration and I've played this in the store for a couple of hours continuously. Nothing blew up or shorted out. I've never heard of Stone. Anyone here know anything about them? I'm really thinking about buying one because I like things that are not mainstream. This little amp had a lot of charecter. Nice to see that coming from someone else beside one of the Boutiques or a Major player. A McLeod III
Yea, I checked out the specs on the 40 (Transistor) but couldn't find nothing on the tube models. Thanks for the link.
