Bbach1
Yardwork can be a pain in the a**. Sometimes I feel like putting in an Arizona desert theme so I wouldn't have to mow, apply fertilizer and weed killer, and then mow some more. bbach Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. henryrobinett
No, but my lack of participating in most common household chores because "I have to practice" may eventually led to a divorce. My wife is an angel. I mean I don't do NOTHING but my wife's an angel. But unless something happens substantial to justify my "lifes work" soon I am going to be doing a lot more yardwork very soon! Off to play a gig with jazz pianist Art Lande!!! All the best, Henry Robinett

Bob Keelan
Yeah man. I'm out there today working it. But ya gotta do it this time of year before it gets too hot. Then you get the rest of the summer to enjoy the fruits of your hard labor.
DIAMOND DUST
I love working in my yard. It's like therapy. It's a battle trying to keep up with the joneses. But that's America. You gotta love it man. http://b-cordova.dmusic.com/
Gabriel E.
Just got done with 4 1/2 hours in the yard. It's been raining every day for the last 2 weeks so I haven't been able to mow, weed, etc. I filled 3 garbage bags with grass trimmings. Caevan O’Shite
We've got a BIG yard, in the relative countryside on the hill outside o' the village here. We just let the grass-mulch lay, no baggin' it up; that would leave no time at all between mowings!! I've had some time-off from the mowing of late, but almost half of it's been taken up by working on the damn riding mower, which is the reason for the break from mowing... I keep asking myself, "do I really want to fix this??!!?" Henry- I wish you total success, on both fronts! LeftyBlues
Hey Gabriel, put the grass clippings on your gardens, just not too thick. I get grass from my neighbors since I use a mulching mower. Free mulch! I was born at night but I wasn't born last night...
Major Tom
How about having a 16 month old baby! Talk about cutting into guitar time, not to mention almost never being able to even halfway crank an amp in the house...with an attenuator even. I pretty much had to give up my amp modding hobby. She's worth it though! The final adoption hearing is tomorrow afternoon. This has been a long, long, expensive process. At 48 years old, my first (and last, and only!) child... Gabriel E.
Tom, That's so awesome - Congrats! I have one on the way myself so I'm going to crank my amps as much as possible for the next 7 mos. pauldil
That's great news, Major Tom! I wish you much happiness! As far a yard work, last year we did major home remodeling, so this year we're re-landscaping, and it's taking up quite a bit of my already limited free time. But it'll be worth it to have a nice looking yard & garden. You're right Diamond Dust, it IS like therapy. Paul

Dennyf
My SO is into gardening, so she takes care of all the fou-fou aspects. I mow the grass, edge the walks, etc., which only takes about an hour and a half a week. It's good to make sure I get out of the studio for a while at least one day a week. (Not that I'm that busy, it's just where I like to hang out). Just spent three DAYS getting the pool back in shape after a poor job of covering it last winter, and having a family of ducks living in the back yard for a while. My own damn fault, I'll buy more air pillows next winter! And eat more duck. henryrobinett
Major Tom - That's incredibly awesome! A child is worth WAYYYYYYYYY more than playng a guitar. I virtually gave up much of my music to raise my boys. Now at almost 12 and 13 they're old enough to hang and let their Dad have back a little of his reclusive musician life style. But I wouldn't trade it for anytihng in the world. I'd rather play with them than play my guitar on most ocassions and definitely rather than mow the lawn. That's why I'd rather just pay someone to come and take care of it once a week. My time is worth that to me. All the best, Henry Robinett

spiral light
Well Done Gabriel E. & Major Tom. As the proud father of a 4 month old daughter all I can say is: get yer guitar playing in quick cause as soon as they arrive time seems to disappear (hence me getting up at an unfeasible hour to post to this forum and to arrange recordings I have set up on my pc). I should also add that they are worth it (I spend more time than I should just staring at her in the morning, sleeping before I head off to work). My playing has suffered somewhat but the way I see it is that it gives me time to do a lot of mental pre-production on whatever I want to record, this way I know exactly what it is I want to do and how. As for yardwork, I did mange to mow the lawn last weekend, looks like it could have used another pass at it this weekend too, did I get to it? Tedster
I've been outside all weekend. I'm mowing over two acres of my ten acres now...and about three or so hours of that needs to be done by hand due to hills steeper than I want to take the lawn tractor on. Yesterday, I planted 20 redbud seedlings up the driveway (it's a long-assed driveway) A never ending thing, but it is therapy. Billster
My yard looks like the jungle right about now. When I have time, it rains, when the weather is clear,I have no time. Besides that, I'm remodeling the dining room (paint, floor, window trim, the whole nine yards.)Do any of you find that the craftsmanship you try to bring to music making carries over to any other endeavor you pursue? Note to the parents: I wouldn't trade my little man (23 months) for a stack of vintage 335's. He's a daily reminder that miracles are real. Buy my CD on CD Baby! Funk Jazz
kids are worth more than any lawn no doubt about it. although it's nice for them to toddle around on. i'm so happy for those of you just having kids... it's the greatest thing in the world. Shoes
I'm kind of fond of the ground too but somehow it seems to have completely crushed my swimming pool Looks to be a right-off from the shape of it so right now yard work is a kind of mourning affair. I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

Lee Flier
Badass, Henry! Congrats! I wish I had time for more yard work.
