PeeMonkey
I was wondering which one is the better buy since the prices are similar. The Gnx3 has its drumming station, 8 track recording and multi effects and the Gt-6 just has a buncha effects. I heard the gt-6 is built like a tank and is durable. Can somone ogive me a heads up on Pros and Cons of each, and which one they would recommend buying if they were to choose either. Thanks
Werewolf by Night
Welcome to the Guitar Forum, urinous simian! Well, the Boss unit might be for you, if you want it primarily as a "front of the amp" big honkin' uber-pedal kinda sorta thing. The GNX is a more involved and more versatile affair, very much the electric guitarist's equivalent of a keyboardist's "workstation". Depends on what you want! And, want to get out of it. Some good sounds in there , if you ignore 99% of the presets. Make your own. What type of recording setup do you have now? If you have nothing, then the gnx3 might help you. Otherwise, you need to seperate your guitar stuff from your recording stuff. IMHO. S
EmptinesOf Youth
hey, hows it goin.... i have the gt-6 and so i thought i might have an opinion...still not sure tho... anyway...the gt-6 sounds good once you make your own once you make your own settings as stated above, which can be a bit daunting since it is so versitile...i mean when you change the settings you can change anything from the gain to treble to type of speaker simulation to the EQ to what type of output its going to....for me its a bit much and at first all the effects were cool but now i mainly use 2 patches...a distortion and a clean....but its good to have all the extras right? i mean in case i needed them? i coulda bought a really nice overdrive pedal or even a small practice amp for what i paid but i made the smart choice right?....hahaha.....i hear a lot of people end up only usin the distortion on all those pedals...who knows maybe you wont, but seriously think about it cause thats a lot of money for something you only gonna use .8 percent of... if im leading you away from these fancy effect pedals....good... i honestly mean well
mstreck
I've never played through a GT-6. Here's my take on the GNX3: The GNX3 is quite phenomenal if you take the time to learn the ins and outs. It really is a fantastic machine! I use mostly customized patches. Many of the stock patches will need tweaked to "fit" your guitar and amp, but it can be done! And the recorder makes it easy to capture things for later editing. TIP: just use the recorder for recording. Do the editing in Cakewalk or similar software. As far as I'm concerned, it was money well spent. I'm still learning and tweaking, but I have no regrets. PeeMonkey
Hmm, i think GNX3 it is then.. also another question, does the editing software come with the GNX3 upon purchase? Also is it better to get the seperate footswitch for recording by digitech?

Also is it better to get the seperate footswitch for recording by digitech?Well, Cakewalk Guitar Tracks 2 comes with the GNX3, but I wanted something "more". I plunked down some cash for Sonar but an old version of Cakewalk Pro Audio or Home Studio should do you just fine. I don't have the extra footswitch, so I can't tell you anything about it. I do wish I had it sometimes because I'll forget what mode the footswitches are in and end up pressing the "wrong" pedal when trying to change a patch. You'll see what I mean when you're trying to lay down a bunch of tracks that use different patches. PeeMonkey
I have seen the gnxfc foot pedal on ebay for 39.00$ Also I saw the GNX3 itself for $300 - 359.00. $300 for a used on which is about 2 years old, 359$ for a new one manufactured in April 2004, Which one would be the better buy, ive always heard used is always a better deal but the price difference is so small. ALso regarding the software, would the used software have updates for free on the net, compared to the new one with all the latest software on the CD's itself? For the relatively small price difference you won't have to wonder what it's been through. I bought a display model from music123.com. It came in mint condition and all software was included, warranty cards, etc. Mike Petting Hendrix Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked in the head by an iron boot? Werewolf by Night
Yeah, what he said! Go for the new one, if the difference in price is so small. You might be glad of the warranty sometime... easily worth the difference!
