for a little while. Bought it yesterday, brought it home, and returned it an hour later.

 

It had the weirdest thing going on. On the pick attack, it sounded like a chorus gone nuts! This would stabilize after a couple milliseconds - but it happened on everything. I tried multiple guitars and multiple cabs. I compared it to my Fender and my Marshall. Ultimately, I determined it was not me nor my guitars or cabs; it was definitely a problem with the amp.

 

I've never heard an amp do anything like that. Very unfortunate. It shoulda been an ass-kicking amp! Oh well....

I used to have open jams in my house three times a week many years ago. A neighbor used to come over and jam from time to time. One time he came in with a brand new Crate amp, bragging about the great tone and everything. A week later he came back bitching about it because it kept crapping out on him.

 

I don't think I'd want a Crate amp. I love my Rivera amps, and my two old fenders. I'm sort of thinking about the Marshall 1987X or the 1959SLP heads. I'd prefer the 1959SLP but I have no use for 100 Watts, I think 50 Watts kicks much ass, 100 would be too much, and I'd never get it to overdrive naturally without splitting my ears open. The 1987X looks like the same thing but easier to push because the lower wattage.
