D A
Hi everyone! Mates i need your help. Id like to buy some cdroms, dvds with electric guitar lessons, there are lots of them selling via the net but i really dont know which of them are good/crap. Could you please recommend me some of that items or post links to some reviews. The reason im bothering you with such question in my country its not easy to find any guitar magazines and the internet connection from my home is sluggish so i cannot spend much time to surf the net, not moaning just explaining the reason. I need some lessons on technique, basic theory etc. Most of all im interested in blues and rockabilly music. Many thanks in advance!
D_dup3
First some questions: Are you a beginner or at some intermediate level? If a beginner, I'd hazard that the first steps are much the same in any lesson program so there might not be a significant differnce. At an intermediate level there's more to coinsider: your relative skill & musical knowledge level, for instance, or exactly what sorts of material you most like ("rockabilly" is a fairly narrow category but there's a wealth of blues styles---which do you prefer?). The more informative you are there the better someone might guide you. In any case, one of the best options is to check into local instructors who might be able not only to help you with material you could get from books, DVDs, etc., but can observe your playing & suggest specific things in regard to how you actually play; tailoring exercises to the psrticular things you might neglect on your own. synthetic
Check out Truefire.com, they sell some good books that come with CDs. I have this one, it's very good for beginners. http://truefire.com/list.html?store=instruction_books§ion=top_member_picks&orderby=&offset=0&item=5390 They also have a Blues book that looks good. Fender has some online lessons that are cool: http://www.fenderplayersclub.com/ They're PDF, not video, so they download pretty fast. Sorry to not really answer your question, but I've learned a lot from both of these resources. -jl
