elferoony
I went to my high school senior prom yesterday. There was a live band there. The reason I learned to play guitar in the first place was because of the scene in Back to the Future where Marty McFly rocks Johnny B. Goode at the high school prom. I asked to sit in with the band for Johnny B. Goode. I did. It was emotionally fulfilling. I was truly happy. Unfortunately, my playing was awful. I don't play out much, but I couldn't resist the opportunity.
Tedster
But, to everyone at the prom, you were way cool! Congrats! "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
Compact Diss
Nice! Congrats. I believe the entire reason we play the guitar is for the emotional rewards it can give to us. I love hearing about things like this.
Caevan O’Shite
That's great, elferoony! What did the guy in the band have for a guitar and amp, and what'd you think of it? A String
There is nothing like taking all of that practicing and putting it on stage for others to admire. Kind of like the big pay off! Teahead
Hey, McFly! Did you make it to the Delorean before the town clock struck? Congrats, Jonny B is a great tune, I'll bet you were way better out front than you think. Tea. Pedal Clips
Caevan O’Shite
Let's just hope the bit about McFly's Mom-to-be having the hots for him and chasing him didn't happen, too! Major Tom
I never played at the prom, but I did get to play with my band at 2 dances at my high school; 1 in my junior, 1 in my senior year. My senior yearbook even has a pic in there of us playing. I have to admit, that was a cool feeling. Matter of fact, my first "date" with my wife was taking her to the first one of those. Mike Gug
I thought for sure I'd read, "... and then I woke up" at the end of your story. Nice work! That had to have been a blast. Mikegug www.facebook.com/theresistancemusic
elferoony
Yeah, it was great. But my fingers didn't disapear. Oh well. Supposedly, someone recorded it on a digital camera, even. Gear: I didn't even bother to ask to play his electric guitar. I played it on an Ovation acoustic-electric plugged into the P.A. There was a acoustic bass, saxaphone, and keys, too.
