skipclone 1
Sorry to take up space just to post something good cause I need good news-BUT... Well as I may have mentioned, I have to find a new job AND new living quarters, in short order, and I have so far done neither. My life is a freakin mess. But on the other hand, last night I went to visit my friend the textbook salesman. This guy has been playing guitar for two years and decided to get himself not one but TWO custom shop strats, a sunburst 1960 (with the pre-aged worn spots), and a cream white 1969. He has agreed to make whichever one I want available to me this week, since I am going to be doing guitar tracks on two original songs this sunday. I could have easily used either one, but the `69 neck seemed to fit my hand better and I liked the way the strings were set. It is therefore sitting in my apartment as I type. Life sucks, except when it ROCKS... A String
How does the song go? "I've been down so god damn long, that it looks like up to me". Or "I'm so low...when I look up, I see my feet". I know how it is my friend, but I can tell you that everything always works out some how. Think of it, this can't be the first time you've had problems...and I'm sure prior problems have been fixed and long forgotten right? Hang in there, things have a way of working out. NMcGuitar
Glad to hear there's a big bright spot for you. Hope the session goes well too! I'll also second what A String said. Things really will work out, so just hang in there. Many people say that what distinguishes us from animals is "self awareness", or our use of tools (etc.). I believe what sets us apart is our ability to adapt and move forward. Even the worst situations (except maybe dying) can be overcome; life will go on, and things will improve. Keeping a positive outlook can go a long way towards helping. (I'll step down off the soapbox now...) Anyway, have fun with that axe!! skipclone 1
Originally posted by Caevan O'Shite: Tell us more about your upcoming originals recording-project, Skip!about what? oh yeah, the project...man, this is not getting better, now I`m hearing horror stories about the cost of moving services. What a pain. Thanks for the good words guys... Basically I`m trying to get a good portion of my catalog of originals on tape, rather than trying to rework a song to perfection-that can come later. I`m doing the guitar and vocals, having the bass player from our Christmas concert band sit in as well. The other parts are on Protools. For now it`s just two songs, a midtempo pop tune but with some fairly rapid chord changes, and a reggae beat song that has some jazz-derived flavorings, including a solo that`s killing me. This sometimes happens when I work parts out note for note-it sounds great but then I play it at tempo and I`m thinking, damn, this is difficult. But it`s worth the effort in the end. I`ll be making an attempt to post them after they`re done.
