MrNJGG, must you be such an arrogant and provoking horse's ass?

It's one thing to play around and even be abjectly rude on the open forum-proper; it's another to do so within this thread.

If you've got a helpful, insightful reply that will lighten Myles' workload and answer a posted question, by all means, do so.

If you're going to dick around in a smug, smarmy, teacher's pet affectation, then, by all means, shut up for once in your life. Bullshit is bullshit.

Oops, my apologies to any horses who might be reading this...

I apologize for this reactionary posting, Myles, but I've gotta make the call this way, this time.

MrNJGG- If all of the negative rude, arrogant, provocative, and deliberately insulting posts that you've entered on this Forum were removed, very little of your words in font would survive the cut.

And very little else would be here, by ANYONE, that is negative, rude, arrogant, provocative, and deliberately insulting.

In that minority, you are your own private majority.

I have a big not-so-dumb question myself. Couldn't the owners of this forum appoint some more moderators to take care of crap like this? For a froum this size, it seems a shame to let it go and expect Myles, who's extremely busy, to mod it. If it's modded at all, I don't know. Other forums I'm a member of have topics locked and people banned regularly, for spam, flaming, and just plain uselessness.

I know we'd like to think we're above all that, but it seems a shame to keep seeing this ongoing war between people on what used to be a wholly peaceful and useful forum. It still is useful, don't get me wrong, but as for peaceful.... it's getting downright annoying.

I'd hate to see anyone with something worth saying leave because someone without anything good to say won't leave, or isn't banned.

I haven't posted anything in a while, but I've been around. From what I've seen of this Mr. 'Nice' Guy, something needs to be done.

I agree that we can't expect any single person, especially one as busy as Myles, to be able to deal with this kind of crap. Not only that, he shouldn't have to.

Mr. Nice Guy, can't you find anything better to do with yourself then piss people off?

batterypowered- I appreciate your sentiments, but I strongly disaprove of "banning" anyone except in the most extreme and ridiculous cases. Rarely, if ever, seen on this forum.

I think that Bralalalala (now known as Frethead) was the only Forum member ever to get banned, and have a back-catalog of posts deleted. And this was probably due to an extremely large number of posts clogging the forum, in true "spam" fashion, mostly with self-promoting and'or objectionable visual material (borderline T.V. "porn"). Even that was a belabored decision, I'm sure.

I really want to keep this forum truly public and open and free; banning and deleting is too far a foot down a bad path! Please, take no offense, batterypowered!

I think the best solution would be for all of us to completely ignore his useless, provocative posts and only respond to his contributions that further our craft.

The problem is that he's an expert at pushing buttons that we succumb to by responding. This is really a growth opportunity for the rest of us.

Let's move forward.

It's funny, you had a sense of "humor" when you impersonated my moniker. Where is that sense of humor now? This reaction to "I won't touch that" is ludicrous.

I've gotta give it to ya, "Do you now have two humps" is a good one! (Tea, not meant at your expense, alright?) Clever, funny, multi-referencing, and to its intended point.

The "impersonating"-posts that you allude to were not insulting, degrading, inflammatory, or even truly "impersonating" you. It was done in jest, and I tried to poke fun at myself in my reply to you on that "thread". And, if you'll excuse a craftsman's pride, it was at a few points pretty funny, and sophisticatedly so. "I am Jazzicus" alludes to the scene in the feature-film, Spartacus, wherein many people step forward and claim to be spartacus, for reasons of solidarity and rebellion against oppression. I think that I hit on both of those simultaneously there, and how "I Am Jazzicus -hear me comp", posted by "Mel's Gibson" (with my Forum Member number, "title", and post-count underneath) was all that insulting or actually "impersonating" is beyond me. Silly, and without pomp, but hardly anything to get riled up about.

Too often, your posts here are pointedly inflammatory and very patently egocentric. Many times your seemingly friendly remarks are also rather "left-handed compliments" and patronizing condescension. Who wants that?

Making insulting rhymes out of the names of famous players, and similar slaggs, will only aggravate people who happen to like their music; why can't you just espouse what you do like, or wish to make a point about, without its being at someone's expense so often?

If I simply took something out of context from a post of yours, and used it in a cheap "up-stage" bid for snide winks and grins, that would be a direct, inflammatory insult. As you did on the "Ask Myles"-thread.

Look, in a nutshell, I don't want you to leave, and I don't want to change your opinions, I just really, really want to see a lot less "Look At ME!", "I know you are, but what am I?", "You're stupid if you think that", "My Jazz Dad can beat up your rock/rap/pop Dad", childish idiocey with your screen-name on it. It is a fact that people are beginningf to feel as if you've put down tent-stakes here and are overfilling this Forum with crap.

I know you're above that, you've posted some good stuff that doesn't do any of that negative crap, but it has been in a decided minority of your posts here. I often agree with the heart of many a matter that you've brought up, or at least can see your point and understand where you're coming from. But, man, it's like rolling dice every time I click to a post-reply with your screen-name on it, whether or not I'll find something irritating or insightful. All too often the former, I'm sorry to say!

Please- stick around, but tone it down some all around, and stop trying to impress anybody or wittily combat other Forummites here. O.K.?

An older man went to his doctor and told him that he was concerned about his wife's hearing, but didn't want to hurt her feelings. The doctor suggested saying something to her when her back was turned at increasing volumes until she could hear him. The louder he had to speak, the more serious the problem was.

When the man got home, his wife had her back to him, preparing dinner.

He whispered, "Honey what's for dinner?" No response.

Next he said in a normal speaking voice, "Honey what's for dinner?". Still nothing.

Finally, he shouted, "HONEY, WHAT'S FOR DINNER?". His wife finally turned around and shouted back, "FOR THE THIRD TIME, MEATLOAF, YOU DEAF OLD BASTARD!"

See, it's all about perspective. Perhaps it would be best for the parties involved to put it down to misunderstandings and move on. I sure would like to see that, since I've had enjoyable interaction with both parties involved.

That's all I have to say on this subject.

I really don't know what to put here.

I'm with K. You're not a jerk all the time. If so it would be easy to dismiss you, Mr. JG.

But as you've been the focal point of many a flame war, I've largely ignored most of your posts.

Just a suggestion. Try listening to others without posting for a few days. Then compare what you would've posted in response to several threads. Is it helpful? Friendly? Mean? Deliberately antagonizing? Often those who would laugh along with you do not because you have a history of talking down to others who disagree. And you've only been here a few weeks.

As I said, I'm with K. And that means I don't want you to leave either. Just (Cheri Oteri voice:) Simmer down!! Simmer down!! Simmer! ;):D

Not many people like being told what to do. Even fewer when you're talking to musicians and artists. ;) Still, you have to wonder why you get the reactions you do to the free expression you've posted. Give it some thought. These forae are filled with opposing viewpoints. Some become hostile and are generally disliked. Others are welcomed by all, even though they do not share identical opinions on many subjects musical and non-musical. A perfect example would be Lee Flier. We have very different views of the world yet she is almost universally loved by one and all around here. Perhaps you should click on her post count and peruse her responses to several topics.

I'm not without weaknessess. And although I get along with most anyone, I've had my moments of frustration here that have produced some spectacular fireworks with other members. (A fact I'm not proud of, BTW.) Still, I try to approach the controversial topics by treading lightly, and while I'm not successful some of the time, I believe my best moments are those in which I can disagree and have someone say, "I still disagree with you, but I appreciate that you've given some thought to your position and respect you for it."

You don't need to be a yes man to people around here. Your approach is everything.

Good luck.

None taken at all. I think just about everyone here respects your opinion, as do I, but I hope that if it does remain the way it is, it is viewed as being one of said ridiculous cases, because I think we're all getting annoyed, and not frequenting the joint and reading/responding as much as we normally would. Because honestly, who wants to dig through topics filled with flame wars to get to the worthwhile stuff?

But, point taken. :thu:

If we're going non-alcoholic, make mine an IBC Root-beer! :thu: Otherwise, I'll take a Killian's Irish Red, Dos Equis, Lone Star, or a Coors Original. :D
