Dumb question, how do U post non-web (local) pictures here?

If I want to post pictures from my hardrive, how do I do that?

 

Sort of like this, kinda.

 

c:\location_dir_parent\location_dir\picture.jpg[\IMG]

I haven't done it, but from what I understand you need to have a website.

 

I've got one through my IP, just have to learn how to do it. Others here know how.

Yeah, I think that you have to use a URL address linking to a host active on the 'net; I do not believe that they cuurently (or probably ever will) have the means to host all that data for everyone's pics! (Plus, it could open the door for BS litigation and liability about image ownership and display rihgts, and all that crap, if someone even unknowingly posted a copyrighted image.)

A little secret: Another music-related board allows pic posting. You can simply post there, and then insert the link into a post here. (I won't name the board, but its name might be considered synonymous with "Agreement MiddleArea".)

If you have a spare computer you can set up as a server you should be able to, as in a LAN. I'm not sure if a WAN requires an IP address but would think so, to link to the WWW.

Dave, you would need an IP address to the computer, as a server, and then you'd have to link to that. If you have a LAN and have other computer linked they can access via the drive designations. It would be something like; 168.123.06.01, or some such thing. Then you could link to it on your computer.

So I believe it would be somewhat like; http://168.123.06.01/c:\Documents_and_Settings\Administrator\My_Documents\David\Music\Guitars\Epiphone/Epi_Kaukonen_Riviera_Dlx.jpg

though you'd proabably have to take out the spaces.

Gotcha. Now if I can just figure out my computer id on the LAN. I know I've seen it, now where did it go ....
