dave251
Just finished an eC baritone 7 string. I can't really play this beast, but I tried anyway...the action is set up pretty greasy for the fingerstyle client and I'm hammering pretty good with one of my bluegrass flatpicks, so there's a few rattles...oh well...here's a clip.... electroCoustic bari 7 Dave Wendler Instruments

Caevan O’Shite
Mmmmnnn... that's nice. I would bet that Neil (fantastic sound) would really dig this, Dave. As well as plenty of others. You should also post this on the "Official" music-thread, as well. Nice tone, too! How'd you record it- direct, miced amp, what? Which pickups? And, what is that bari tuned to? And what's it strung with, both guages and types? Mmmmnnn... nice... doc taz
Originally posted by KARL FISHER: Having never played one, what do people typically get the 7 string for? KarlVarious reasons, of course. Rockers love it 'cause it's great for those low end riffs tht usually require a downtuned guitar. Fingerstylists play them, because it adds extra depth to solo pieces. The extra low string makes a great counterpoint to any chord being played. Too bad Soloway's on some sort of hiatus. He can better describe this. sevenstring.org profile my flickr page

I did add a touch of reverb, but no compression or eq. Kent Armstrong makes a custom wound humbucker for me, in both a six and seven string version. For my "specials" I use a "commercial" off the shelf unit that Kent designed. High to low, it's tuned down a fourth for the client...with the 7th string at F#; however, for this recording, I've dropped the 6th and 7th strings another whole step, so, hi to lo: B, F#, D, A, E, A, E. Strings are a Martin nickel wound 13-56 set, with an added 74 double nickel wound EB for the 7th. Dave Wendler Instruments

dave251
This guitar went out the door right around $1300...it included as options: 7 string neck, ebony appointments(tailpiece, fretboard and peghead cap), Kent Armstrong custom wound 7 string neck pup, long tailpiece(to be able to use regular guitar strings) and of course the 29.5" scale. All of my instruments use Western Red Cedar for the body, carved very thin. Makes for a highly resonant and super lightweight instrument.
