coyote
Deep Purple - Made In Japan. Rock is supposed to be HARD, and it's supposed to be LIVE. No rock band has ever made a better live album than this. Runnerup: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Many albums could have filled this position, but for today this one's the one. I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football. Dylan
I recently picked up a remastered version of AC/DC Back in Black. What a freakin' great rock album that is! I'd also put GN'R's Appetite for Destruction in my top 10 list for hard rock albums.

ihategarybettman
Man, this is too hard. Depending on my mood, it could be Born to Run, Who's Next, Back in Black, Led Zep IV/Houses of the Holy (take your pick), Exile on Main Street/Let it Bleed (ditto), or any number of other albums I haven't thought of yet. Caevan O’Shite
Yeah, I'll say, that's a hard call to make! I think I'd pick either Houses of the Holy or "Zoso" (IV) from Led Zep, and Quadrophrenia by the Who. But that's just today; who knows what I'd pick another day, there's a quite a few viable selections for such a short list! AlChuck
I think almost all XTC's stuff is fantastic... I love Skylarking... but actually I was wavering between English Settlement and Oranges and Lemons. "The Mayor of Simpleton" is one of my favorite pop songs ever, it makes the little hairs on my neck stand up -- that bassline... and that ending... whitefang
The trouble with these kind of threads...if you don't care for some particular group, you ain't gonna like their inclusion on the list. And then there's the matter of personal taste. This is a real tough question, so just to stir the shit, I'll put in... Jimi Hendrix/Axis:Bold as Love MC5/Kick Out the Jams Blue Cheer/Vincebus Eruptum Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left! Cup
Nirvana - In Utero. Simply amazing from start to finish, people always comment on how the songs on Nevermind were stronger, but the production too sleek. Well maybe that's true (to some ears), but an album isn't just songs, it's production and feel too. In Utero feels immediate and urgent, like a debut album almost. Oasis - Definitely Maybe. A wake up call to many and yes, it too, feels immediate and urgent. I know there's a thousand great L.P's made before the nineties, but we're being purely subjective here!
