roy d
Here's a report that I posted to the Lowden list... I was mainly scoping out acoustic gutar related products so I didn't see much of the electric stuff. sorry. I was at NAMM Thursday It is very difficult to hear there. The Avalon display is right across from Rivera amps!?!?! I did play one of the legacy model L25's and it seemed like a nice guitar but it really was impossible to get a good listen. The workmanship was everything we would expect. A few things that stuck out... the new Baggs M1 is wonderful. For anyone looking for an acoustic pickup, buy one as soon as they're available. They're simple, passive, anyone can mount it, and they sound incredible. Plus the baggs people are just plain good folk. I played the Martin Lawrence Juber models and they seemed to sound really good (again, it was too noisy to get a good listen). And saw the D100... it was a bit over the top for me. More pearl and abalone than the Pacific ocean ;-) Breedlove has a new system with an RMC hex pickup to a guitar synth that was pretty cool if you're into that direction. Played a Northwood jumbo that given the above issues also seemed pretty good. The accord cases - made of graphite - are amazing... lightweight and extremely strong. The guy in the booth was standing on one. A few disappointments - played a few expensive guitars that I was looking forward to that didn't do anything for me at all. I was too tired to check out the independent luthiers forum. The whole thing is just overwhelming with too much noise, too much stuff, too many people... roy Roy http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/alexisdmusic.htm "once it stops bein' a mystery it stops bein' true" David Mowaljarlai - Ngarinyin Aboriginal Elder
