What a really sweet tone!

I'm still getting used to the different feel of it (very different from a strat!), but I really like playing it.

I just had to share the good news. :)

Hey, NMcGuitar, nice looking instrument there, you must be grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Say, is that an Ibanez Artcore? The reason I ask is I posted one on the "Suggestions on first guitar" thread as a possible contender to elicit those blues tones that Alex was looking for, and yours looks really similar, but I just can't seem to convince myself.

Would you recommend it to a new player? Come to think of it would you recommend it to an old player? :D Tea.

Don't forget to post some sounds when you're happy with 'em.

It might take me a little while ('cause I'm a terrible procrastinator about stuff like this... ), but I'll get something up.

The whole Artcore line are really nice! I can't figure out how they manage to keep the prices so low. An old friend of mine (and he's my old guitar teacher as well) does all the repair work for the local GC, and he said the same thing. He loves 'em too. I had him check this one out for me and do the setup. :thu:

So, yeah, I'd recommend it. It's a top-quality guitar, and it doesn't cost huge $$.

John O. Lennon

& so appropo for playin' the blues!

Yeah! It's one of the reasons I chose this model. It really has a nice range - bright & edgy down to very warm & fat (rockabilly to jazz!)

Dak Lander

Ah, you must have gotten rid of those loudspeakers. Nice replacement.

Yeah, Dak. I sold them on ebay back in December. In fact, the price I finally got for them was almost exactly what I paid for the new guitar! :thu:

BOOOOOTIFUL!!!!!!!!!

Still saving for my AS73 ( or maybe the AM73...still can't decide)

Give us more info as you break it in

I played a couple of those, and liked 'em. They were a breeze to play. I almost chose one 'em instead of the baby I got because they felt so nice. I decided to go with the AF75 for the tones (more in line with what I was looking for).

It felt a little stranger playing this one (the one I got) because I'm used to a nice, thin strat. I'm used to the strings being very close to the body by my right hand, and the AF75 has more depth there. I know I'll adjust to that pretty quickly (I had to go through the reverse of that when I switched to the strat from the Les Paul), and I'm already pretty comfortable with it.

Finally, thanks everybody for the congratulations!

Man, Ibanez is making some swanky guitars these days! The only one I used to like was the Artist, like Scofield's used for the past 30 years. He's the one who turned me onto the semi-hollows. Now I want a bunch of the Artcores, the Jetking, the PM series..... All nice stuff. :thu:

Now I want work on my pawnshop jazzbox. So many guitars to work on, so little time....

That is a smooth lookin guitar. Ibanez does amazing things for the prices they ask. Just picked up a new one myself yesterday. I was seriously thinking about that same style but found an LP type that sung to me-probably not the best thing for me economically but it plays like heaven.

Same old surprises, brand new cliches-

What is it exactly? It's not one of the bigger Benson models, I don't think. I have a GB10, ES175 and and a big L5.
Have you recorded an MP3 today?

I like that one. The body is slimmer than most guitars of its type, yet it still produces a full bodied tone, even when it's not plugged in. My only issue with that model is that it's a bit hard to reach the end of the fretboard for some runs, but that's minor.

Ibanez Artcore, model AF75-TSB ("TSB" is for the colour).

Yeah, the tone is very nice. It's actually even passable as an acoustic (albiet a fairly quiet and slightly thin-sounding acoustic).

I noticed the same thing with the top of the fretboard, but I figured that since I can reach the 17th fret before it starts to become an issue (and then I can still get another 3 with a little bit of a stretch), that it's not a problem for me.

Being more of a blues/classic rock/r&b/(and some theatrical musicals) kind of player I'm not one to spend a ton of time at the very top end of the neck. The way it is, I can play up to an F# blues/pentatonic (in the box) before I have to even think about it, and can play up to the A blues/pentatonic with a little extra work (as long as it's not too involved - of course, with me, that's true on any guitar  ).

I don't know how much markup there would be in Finland, but here in the U.S., they're not very expensive. I got a really good deal on mine (knowing the guitar repair guy at the local Guitar Centre definitely has it's advantages), but you can pick one up online (Musicians Friend) for $329 U.S.
